International TalkBass Get Together

It doesn't matter where it is set; if you choose Europe the US Tb'ers have to pay +$1000 and if you choose the US it's the same thing the other way around. Not only traveling costs should be considered, hotels etc can be pretty expensive too. If I can't afford a bass that costs more than $1000, its pretty obvious that I certainly can not afford a trip like that.

Its a great idea, but I doubt the chances of succes.

edit, another thing, these days travelling between the US and the rest of the world isn't as easy as it used to be, for reasons everybody here is well aware of. I doubt i'd go to all the passport trouble for a 3 day trip.

If you were going to do it, South East Asia would be the cheapest / average cost for everyone.

Hotel cost in Thailand or Vietnam is like $5-20US per night for up to three people. Food is next to nothing and so is internal transport. The cost of airfares would be about the same for everyone.

Having in the US would be expensive for everyone other than US residents - Europe / Australia the same. Asia is cheap and relatively central.

it sounds like a really good idea! Unfortunately I don't think I'll be winning the lottery any time soon.... :D

If there was an arrangement that works for as many people as possible then it could be workable.

I've no ideas though.....
