International TalkBass Get Together

I say Montreal :hiding:

But seriously, I think plane tickets to Montreal from Europe are usualy below 1000$, plus once everyone gets here, cheap canadian currency keeps everyone happy!

I'd be interested if the GTG was within 7-8 hours driving distance, so New York would work i guess. Or Toronto, but Toronto sucks...

I'd like to bring this thread up again...

It has to be planned months/years in advance...

I still think that New York ( or near NY ) would be a great place to have such an event. Personally , i don't know anyone who doesn't want to visit New York someday .

When ? Isn't it about uniting the low end since 1998... ? So in 2008 , we have to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Talkbass :) We would have enough time to plan this

Impossible is nothing :bassist:

we'll all paypal the $ to one TB'er and then rent a cruise ship... TB cruise!
This is a great idea :D

A lot of groups set up these types of cruises that are specific to a certain business trade, so why not a bass player cruise? It usually costs about $1500 +/- for the cruise itself, plus the travel expenses to get to the cruise starting point.

I pity the house band bass player that would be working that cruise ship if we were all there

I think it's feasible, party committees put together booze-cruises and party barges all the time. The international element, would be tough though...

...we'll all be the house bassist, each lounge and stage setting on the cruise will be 'bass-less' purposely, so we could all sit in with them!

How about arranging a day to coincide with something like European Bass Day. The next one is in Germany near the border of Holland on Sunday 6th November......at least for the Europeans from Talkbass (Sorry to those Stateside....but you've had a couple already ;) )

http://www.european-bassday.com/

This is the third or fourth one happening near the Netherlands/Germany border, but I know there are also shows in Italy and England in planning. There have been some great builders exhibiting for the last ones along with superb performances.

Also this site has a schedule of other Bass related stuff going on in Europe that is worth checking out!
You might even catch me doing a performance or two! :hyper:
