International TalkBass Get Together

I think this is a good idea, but it isnt fair for some people to drive and some to fly over an ocean. I like Mark's suggestion about picking a venue in asia somewhere...we could all chip in enough to pay for a place, housing and food would be comparitively cheap, and we would all (almost all) have to be willing to deal with getting on a plane. Either way I think it would be a lot of fun if it could get organized...maybe next spring? :)

Except it would be ridiculously hard to get gear including amps on an international flight, and our Asian destination probably wouldn't have much on hand.

For me, Texas would be great, being closer to my side of the planet. But, I would travel to NY if it was there.

A poll would is a good idea to get an accurate picture of the best possible location and mm/dd/yy

Hmmm, good point.

2008 is probably a good year, since this will take a lot of planning. If the States is going to be the place then I would prefer somewhere as far north as possible. I'd suggest Toronto since it would mean that my flight would be domestic instead of international, but I get the feeling that that idea isn't going to fly (no pun intended).

Actually, London is almost equidistant from many of the areas members would be traveling from.

If it's going to be London count me in - I agree that London would be the ideal location - centre of Europe, but English speaking - convenient for all US posters, who could also see the sights and look up ancestors etc. :)

Lots of cheap flights from the US straight to London and it's much cheaper to go that way - US to UK rather than the other way round ...London it is!!
