Saw a book review in the local Sunday newspaper (from the AP) of Peter Hook's book, "Unknown Pleasures- Inside Joy Division." It states that he goes into the initial organization of the band and Ian Curtis' suicide, and the follow-up success of New Order, with the focus of the book on Curtis. It says Hook doesn't hold back on the details, and is written in Hook's "plain-spoken, if not coarse," style (which was apparent from your book). It was quite a favorable review, for what that's worth.

Sorry about giving you a 'review of a review', but as my free-reading time is limited, I thought you might find it of interest. Once I get a chance to get through your book, I might give this one a shot.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely give it a shot, along with John Taylor's memoirs.

I may put audio of my interview with Hook on my Website. It's pretty hilarious today.

At the time it was a nightmare, but all is forgiven. If Hook, Casale, and Simmons were different people, I'd try to get them to sign a copy of In Cold Sweat, along with Thunes, and then have a contest for someone to win the one copy signed by all four. But Thunes is the only one who ever responded to any of my queries since the book was published, so I won't bother.

What an idea, though, huh?

I watched a VH1 "Behind the Music" episode last night and was once again reminded that I somehow missed how amazing a bass player John Taylor was.

His story is quite amazing and I do think that it would make a great book.

They readily admitted on the show (manager, Simon and John) that they were packaged for a second wave of British Invasion a-la-Beatles and that the more screaming little girl fans they got, the worse the critics panned them as exactly what they marketed themselves as.

But, beneath all that - the music was good in hindsight!!

And as I have already admitted on this thread, I too dismissed them as pretty boys and therefore didn't even listen to what they played.

These are the stories that make such good reading!!

Scott Thunes has asked me to not say anything publicly about his memoirs, but he hasn't put any conditions on me reporting the developments in his career.

Tonight in Austin, with the Mother Hips, he's going to play a Rickenbacker for the first time in his life.

And he's NOT GOING TO REHEARSE! He's going to go out on stage, pick it up, plug it in, and go for it.

I've asked him to send me a link if anybody films it. I'm betting it's going to be jaw-droppingly epic.

I think Scott will kill the Ric.......the amazing tone of the Ric with Scott's technique should make for a very happy relationship.

I do belive that different basses make for different tones and allow for expanded sonic endeavors and I think it will fit him to a "T"!

Yippee! I expect a review HERE, young man. I won't read it, so you can write whatever you want. Title it "Review of Ghosts and Ballyhoo" so I can avoid it.

It's only fair after all my yapping that someone tell everyone else if I managed to put my money where my yapper is.
