It's only fair.

In fact, anyone who wants to review it, go ahead and do so. Just let me know it's a review by either putting that in the title or putting something at the beginning of the post, such as "REVIEW" in capital letters.

Don't by shy. I'm not going to read it, so you can say whatever you want, good, bad, or indifferent. Books need to be reviewed.

Thanks very much. It's kind of a confused time right now. We're having to make some strategy changes at the last minute.

It was another reason I didn't want to write another book about music. In Cold Sweat drove me crazy and broke my heart, so I didn't want to try it again. I'm at peace with that book now, since enough people have told me what I always thought, that it was a great book. It's till in print after ten years, too.

So even though there are... issues (ahem) as there always are in the publishing industry, this time around I can deal. What will be, will be. I'm proud of Ghosts and glad I could write it.

So, thank you .

Here's a request for everyone who wants to post a review:

Please do me a favor and write "WARNING: REVIEW" in the first line of the post itself.

That way I can skip it, and you can write whatever you want.

I'm not going to argue with any reviewer or criticize any review. You have to write what you think and be honest.

Also, please try to avoid spoilers. What they do in movie reviews with spoilers is they write "WARNING: SPOILERS." So if you include spoilers, please let everyone else know first.

See, I already know how it ends, even though it turns out it hasn't ended.

Oo, cryptic! Sorry.

One more coda coming up, for my soon-to-be-launched Web site.

Just write "WARNING: REVIEW!" at the top in the body of the post. Use red letters if you can.

Hey, how about single emoticons as reviews? The meanest reviews ever written were of a Christopher Cross album and a Ted Nugent album.

The first was "Fat man, thin voice." The second was "You're too old, Ted. Eff off." (Though it didn't say "eff").

Yep, I for one will vouch that In Cold Sweat Sweat is both a fantastic book and still in print as I just had to order a new copy for myself as the friend I lent my copy to can't remember where it is. Grrr! I fancied reading it again while I wait until July(!) for my copy of 'Ghosts' to arrive from Amazon UK.
Great idea to ask people to title their posts 'Review' or 'Spoiler' as myself and others living outside the States will be a bit behind the rest of you *insert punchline of choice here ;-)*

A question for you Tom...
I recently bought and love Make A Jazz Noise Here - I really like the fact it's mostly instrumental so Scott Thunes parts are really up in the mix (the phaser works great with his growly P bass IMHO).
So, what would be your SECOND favourite album with Scott playing bass on, Zappa or otherwise? There are so many live Frank albums that it's hard to know where to go after MAJNH.
Suggestions on what to buy next to venture further down the rabbit-hole of Thunesness will be most appreciated. :)

Without a doubt, The Best Band You Never Heard in your Life is where you should go next.

"Inca Roads" is beyond belief, as is "The Torture Never Stops." The entire album is great, but those are standouts.

And they do "Stairway to Heaven," the whole horn section duplicating the guitar solo note for note in unison!
