The Airturn BT105 is bluetooth. So you are dealing with some range effectiveness, but yes, it's conceivable. The Airturn product was developed as a hands free page turning device for things like presentations, etc. It just happens that a couple companies have developed the ability to utilize that tech to work with their apps.

The info on the airturn online says it goes up to 60' but I guess that might be a bit unrealistic. I assume the Wi-Fi version (AT-105) is better? Would there be any chance of it working with my iPad through a USB interface? I've no idea how it works, but if the USB dongle that comes with it gives out its own signal it seems plausible.

It would be nice if companies would cut deals but at the same time we are the ones crazy enough to pay for it regardless of price. We do not need an iPhone but want one and are willing to pay, what ever price they ask of us. Some people, were so willing to have the new 5S, they stood in line for 14 days. So from a business prespective it must be nice to stick what ever price you want on it and people still pay for it. So you really cannot blame them, blame the market/our selves.

you are very correct I do continue to buy apple products but I get them used off of ebay so I have the previous generation stuff.. but by most standards that is still better than most of the other stuff out there. I wish I could charge prices like Apple gets away with but like I said, I don't pay apple for my apple products because I don't see the value in it.

It's a low price, but still I would stay away from that as it uses the hedphone jack on your iDevice. Do yourself a favour and buy an interface that uses the docking port instead.

How about bringing both the transmitter and the receiver with you? Then range won't be a problem.

You could hang a small interface like a Jam and an iPhone and the Airturn all on your strap or belt. A little trickier with the iPad of course.

Yup I'm using the iPad... with the Alesis IO Dock. A little tricky to carry it with me...

Although I realize that if I get a new generation iPhone (with more processing power) and a good connection interface, I can run everything on me, and use my wireless to connect from the iphone out to the mixer. That's a tempting idea...

Also, after reading this thread, I tried dual-amping using audiobus and I was totally blown away. I had one of those "Why haven't I tried this before?!" moments. Thanks, guys! It's amazing.

Dual amping had been done in the real world since the beginning of time. In fact, in the 80's-90's I had a very clean preamp on one channel and a rack of toys on the other for effects and low end grumbling, that I changed with the sequencer of MIDI pedals. Both feeds went to the board.

iOS just makes it absolutely freekin' easy to do what too me a truck load of gear before. I'm never going back to a rack rig again.

Cheap is good if you want to experiment. But like the others have said, you'll need something better if you're serious. I really like my Sonic Port and IO Dock

I'd imagine it would work up to 60' away. In perfect conditions without any other interference, and likely with a bit of lag. Are you wanting it to work via a cable instead of bluetooth/wifi? Largest distance I've ever been is about 25'. I don't go much past that.

It'd probably have a lot of interference from my wireless and hothand. I was thinking of plugging the AT-105 into my iPad, and using that wireless to connect, but seems quite impossible... so I guess it's either the BT-105 and me staying within 25', or downloading midibridge and touchOSC to my iPad and android phone, and connecting via ad-hoc wifi.

And I've always been aware of double-amping as well as running a clean and dirty chain in parallel, just that I never really realized how much better the sound is when you do that, and so I didn't feel like spending on a blend pedal. It's so easy with iOS! But it seems to me that it increased the latency of my JamUp dirty chain- which was using the whammy to give me an octave up for sharper harmonics, -as well as- an octave down.

Admittedly, I was using that because I couldn't get a fuzz tone alone that satisfied me with both fuzziness and deepness, (which was why with my real pedals, most of my distortion tones relied on my FoxRox Octron with clean blend), but with double amping, I could probably play around with other fuzz tones too. Hmm.

Didn't see they issued a bass pack but that is good for the newcomers to the app. Yeah, I bought each bass amp as they can out so the pack is of no use to me. Looking forward to checking out their take on the sans amp bass driver because I haven't heard one yet that really gets the feel of the real one right.

Gotta say thank you to Ampkit for continuing to show bass players some love with every update and not treating us like outcasts!
