Oxide is based on the Brass master. Honestly a lot of dirt would do good in that spot. Lean toward the sputtery ones.
This for sure. Look for the Hiero BEAD, YD/Doom 2, Malekko Diabolik, Black Cat, and I’m sure there are others I’m forgetting.

Frantabit at a solid price on reverb, not affiliated.
One week to go until 3 months on my Xerograph Deluxe preorder. Very excited.
I love my XD. Here’s a clip I did the other day with it.
Signal chain: Lakland 44-14->Octabvre->Broughton FFXL (Hiero BEAD in Loop)->IE XD ->SA Collider->Broughton Studio One->Apogee Duet
Sorry for my slowness, are you asking if I keep the FFXL and 3leaf volumes the same all the time? I'm still learning how to set gains properly and trying to take pics of settings when I find something good. I'm really good at finding bad sounds, lol. But I usually don't mess with the Octabvre's volume too much once I get it set and I believe it is quite cranked. I'll try to dig up the photos and send to you.nice, do you just leave any input/output alone with your 3leaf and FFXL? I have my clam before the XD and the smallest output changes, change the dynamic of the XD attack/release - XD can be really fun, but I wish it had a loop and just summed the signal at the end
Oh yeah, I'm sure any setting is subjective to bass output, individual pedal, ect, I'm just referring to any change at all. Say I have my sens on the XD set, if I change my bass volume, tone, or pedal before the XD, it triggers the envelope different, as it really should, it really just pushes it into an almost non-envelope situation, and just a straight bandpassed tone.Sorry for my slowness, are you asking if I keep the FFXL and 3leaf volumes the same all the time? The main thing for me is finding the sweet spot on the XD's Sensitivity, mainly using it in 4-pole, resonance not too high if in 4-pole, and tweaking the frequency knob ~9 o'clock, a bit higher for more lead-like stuff or lower for juicy but then raising the Sens a bit.
I'll put the Clam in the FFXL loop and see what happens. It's not gated so I tried it and just took it off the synth board rather quickly. I'll PM you once I test it out, hopefully tonight.
I think this is where the Sens knob is your friend, a little change goes a LOOONG way so the sweet spot can change by just a hair. Or just your plucking dynamics.Oh yeah, I'm sure any setting is subjective to bass output, individual pedal, ect, I'm just referring to any change at all. Maybe I'm just making too much of a change before the pedal, I get it perfectly dialed and then I'm lost if something gets bumped lol - maybe I need to explore having more after the XD and not before as well
Right on, well I played this last night, almost everything is behind the XD, I can fine tune the XD with nothing else (aside the bba) and it works alright, not chromatron wacky, but alright, then engage the calamity right before, readjust the sensitivity and/or gain on the clam and the XD is almost lost. Even with the dry line on the XD full CCW. I have had H/LPF after an envelope choke the range, but even turning off the S1 (the only filter left, para and rfe off), its very hard to even hear the XD. I mean the monocomps tilt maybe?View attachment 4586908
@labeledbass This may or may not be useful but here are the settings I used to get a decent synth you sound with the Saturn, Octabvre, FFXL, Calamity, and Xerograph Deluxe and S1. I can PM individual pics if you’d like.
The main takeaways I had were these:
Do not blend the Octabvre in the FFXL (or don’t use it in parallel, or if so, minimally, as you can see I brought a little in with the Clam). Octabvre’s sound does not work the best in parallel for what I was wanting to hear. Mids can make or break a filter, too much can be too brash and not enough can make it not open enough or sound too dark. A little balancing act.
Calamity toggle either up or down for synth, no middle toggle. These two things made the biggest difference for an achievable sound. Once I figured out the serial sound for the Octabvre I could keep the XD’s knobs set fairly even for the Octabvre running into the Mastotron or Doom 2 once I had their respective volumes set correctly. Unfortunately I don’t have a SubT or Oxide to work with. I hope Taylor brings back the SubT or Oxide or other variants as I would like to try them.
Ona completely different note, I read through the FrantaBit manual and found it a good read to learn about bit crushing so that is peaking my interest for a thing to try next.
Try 4-pole on the XD also if the Clam is too low-endy and not enough middy then the filter may not be opening at all so you would be filtering out all high frequencies making it hard to hear.Right on, well I played this last night, almost everything is behind the XD, I can fine tune the XD with nothing else (aside the bba) and it works alright, not chromatron wacky, but alright, then engage the calamity right before, readjust the sensitivity and/or gain on the clam and the XD is almost lost. I'll kill everything but bba, XD and clam and try again in a moment

4 poles on, forgot to change that, but b4 nothing. Found the absolute main culprit was the clip switch on the clam, middle is NO good, it's so crazy how it makes the XD just disappear, now clip switch to the bottom, everything sounds great, even with alot of filter post.Try 4-pole on the XD also if the Clam is too low-endy and not enough middy then the filter may not be opening at all so you would be filtering out all high frequencies making it hard to hear.
I posted that as a possibly of what I would have on, the calamity is my pre fuzz, Maestro post fuzz, but with the paraeq and rfe off, the only thing holding back on bandpass is the S1, messenger is just for headphones. Is that picture representative of what you have turned on when testing this?
First thing I see is the sensitivity on the XD is pretty high to begin with. It will sound more open and less dramatic on the attack if you have the sensitivity too high.
Also, I see FFXL, Solarian, Sunray, Para EQ, Studio 1, and possibly the Octabvre and Messenger all turned on as well? Depending on what the signal chain is, you’re throwing a lot of potential boost and interactive EQ at the input of a filter. That’s an insane amount of gain staging if you’re going for consistency in a pedal that relies on touch sensitivity at the input stage…
