Cool thread, I thought this might be of interest. Here's a photo of my pedal board from a couple of years ago. Taylor was only doing custom orders at that point if my memory is correct, and he made a few pedals for me. The one on the top row, all the way on the left (King Flatus II), is a low pass filter with a 2 or 4 pole toggle switch and of course an expression pedal input. The pedal on the bottom, one in from the left (Lord Guano), is a gated fuzz. It's based on a B:assmaster but with a couple of cool features. It's got a starve knob to starve the voltage, and it also has a gate knob. There's an EXP in jack for the Sensitivity knob as well. It's a REALLY versatile pedal! I have to find a pic of this crazy LPF he made for me which also had a square wave feature. I'll post that asap.

I really need to try the SubT with an envelope more. I have bene neglecting it an using it mostly just as an octave down pedal.

I just wanted to post my appreciation for Iron Ether so others can understand just how important this company is. The philosophy of doing business is far beyond what I have ever experienced. The products are backed and fully supported, as is the knowledge behind the product. I highly recommend their product in any way you can use it.

Yeah to be completely honest, I had the same problem. It took me a little while to figure it out, and I almost called it quits right before i started getting the tones I was looking for. Glad I'm a bit stubborn and didn't give up, because it is totally worth it. That mixed with the SubT is amazing.

I can anticipate that I might get some emails about that, so just to preemptively disappoint, that's not something I will be making in the future and I can't do custom builds anymore, sorry.

Actually, it's weird because I thought I only ever made one pedal like that, which had the customer's name on it. But that one doesn't. Not sure if that means there are two of them or I'm remembering wrong about the name being etched into it.

Yeah, I think this would've been from 2011 or early 2012 if memory serves. There are a few other IE oddities floating around, and I really wanted to be able to do custom work because I like the idea of creating unique stuff every day, but the design work involved in one-offs was generally so extensive that, for it to be financially viable I'd need to charge several times what a regular IE pedal costs. The builds also took forever and sometimes people waited over a year for a custom pedal. So for anybody who's asked about custom stuff over the last few years, I have (hopefully politely) declined, not because it's totally impossible but usually because it would be so expensive I felt sheepish even sending a realistic price quote.

Now that the graphics are engraved by the CNC machine, any change to the graphics, usually necessary when adding features, is quite time-consuming as it all has to be laid-out, programmed and tested. So that's why you'll see lots of different paint jobs on the pedals now, but no one-off engravings. I thought it might be cool to do some special Subs with hydrangeas engraved into them, and change the name to "Subterrangea" (just for one batch). Then I realized that that's a lot of work for a fairly abstract play on words, and I'm not sure pedal people really dig flowers as much as I do for the most part... ;) Hmm, maybe instead it could be "Subterrangaea" and have a little drawing of Pangaea on it. Eh, probably better to focus on making more pedals. And new ones. :thumbsup:

to those of you running multiple IE pedals... how would you order them for the best synth chain? I'd say SubT -> Oxide -> Xero -> Frantabit -> Polytope -> Nimbus. Or maybe the Polytope first? What about the Frantabit after the Xero, doesn't it risk eating everything up and spitting crushed bits only? What's your take?
