I love WYSIWYG - so happy to hear you’re not going to be giving that up. That was a large part of my decision to get the DubT to replace my C4 (which I’m MIDI controlling for presets).....besides my anticipation of the oscillators just flat out sounding better. The layout of your pedals are so dang intuitive, I feel like I could quickly dial in the DubT and XD for different sounds quicker than I could page through presets on my C4 anyway.

Playing with my band last night, I had the XD set up for synthy sweeps (which is really what I bought it for)....and we started playing something kinda funky (which isn’t normal for us). I just reached down and flipped to 2-pole, added some clean blend, dropped the resonance and frequency a bit, kicked on the envelope, and within a couple bars had a beautiful sounding subtle-ish funky filter. Had never even tried to dial in those kind of settings before....and they were just there. Being able to do that on the spot made me love the XD even more......and I would’ve not even bothered if I was trying to use the C4 filters with MIDI and trying to remember which controls I set to which knobs and on which preset.

I found that while a pedal might be useful in a number of settings with a variety of sounds it creates, I didn't have the time or ability to 'reset' say my Xerograph to move between a dialed in envelope and a swept filter, etc. so I ended up with multiple pedals on my board even though I could have used a single pedal for sounds I liked. It really meant that I had to have a single sound for many pedals that could have been useful in a variety of settings.

I also found that in layering sounds, it was way easier to have a MIDI controller and bypass looper that could activate up to 8 pedals at the same time and in different configurations. I personally would aim at a MIDI system that allowed for patch saves and leave things like the expression control a 'regular' expression setup.

Behold, my new (old) and improved Franta! It's a huge difference.
