Iron Ether Subterranea

The upgrade includes:
- fixed the noise bleed/chatter issue
- the filter control is now more responsive, with more harmonics available at the high end of the control.
- deeper fundamental on the clean octave.
- more reasonable volume levels (previously the pedal was way too darn loud).

That's great news Taylor! Really looking forward to receive my Sub-T now.

I was just wondering, do you think that with these fixes the Sub-T can cover clean octave ground?

It was certainly built with that in mind. With the filter all the way down the frequency response is the same as the OC2, and the enhanced fundamental will be the icing. But hopefully someone less biased than myself will chime in to give their opinion.

Hey Taylor, I'm sure you're a busy man but I've emailed twice the last two weeks, once this morning so I didn't expect a response already, but I never did get a response. But I'd like to know the following if possible:

1. How does the update work as far as price goes? Is there a charge for the upgrade and do we have to pay for shipping to and from?

2. How long will it take approximately from the day I send it in to you for the update to the day I could expect it back? I understand you're probably crazy busy now that you've gotten word out of the update but just an best guesstimate would suffice.

Thanks for the great work and keep it up Taylor!!!

Hi Greg, looking at my emails you messaged me August 28th and I responded September 2nd. Perhaps it went to your spam folder?

All the details on shipping are best left for email - technically we commercial users are not supposed to talk $ on the forums.

The turnaround time from when we get the pedal to shipping it back out should only be a few days. Shipping times to and from will obviously depend on many factors.

Thanks!

i got to spend some time with an Upgrade Version and the noise is gone for all intents and purposes. the filter sounds way better and it's just a vastly improved version of a pedal i already liked even with it's few issues.

gooooooood STUFF.

thanks TayDiggsy!

Thank you for replying on both, I appreciate your time. I'll have to go back and check, my apologies. Thanks for the info. I'll be sending mine back pretty soon in that case :)

I was just wondering, do you think that with these fixes the Sub-T can cover clean octave ground?

Yes, absolutely.

I spent some time with the prototype A/Bing it with the two octavers I currently have (OC-2 and EBS Octabass) with and without headphones. The result is that the Subterranea when used strictly as an octaver now has:

(1) Better tracking in terms of glitching on low notes (A on the E string and down) than either the Boss or EBS
(2) Better tracking in terms of fewer artifacts than either when doing quick runs. Given that I previously A/B'd the Boss and MXR and the Boss won in this regard, it's safe to say my comments extend to the MXR as well.
(3) No bleedthrough or background noise
(4) A wider range of tones. You get the OC-2 tone with the filter closed and as much or more harmonic content than the EBS in "High" mode with the filter all the way open
(5) Enough gain for the soloed octave to be at unity gain or slightly above but much less than before making it easier to dial in unity gain even when using all four voices.

Personally I felt like this fix addressed all of the issues I had, particularly the ability to use the SubT as a straight octaver.
