Is 2 1x15 cabs a bad idea?

I have a Markbass Traveler 151P, and plan on a second one as soon as I save up for it and a separate Little Mark III head. Right now I'm running the 151P as an extension to my Markbass CMD 121H combo (112), and it sounds fine. I just have to be careful not to overwork the 12". Two 115s will be heaven for me. I love the sound.

that looks awesome! not perfect, but awesome. i'm assuming the tone is "awesome".

Well the idea is definitely present! I need to make another speaker patch- I seem to have lost one... but individually the cabs are quite different, since the upper cab has the EV "L" and the lower has the EV "B". I'll use them as-is for now- I hope! Soon enough there'll need to be re-cones... both Bs I guess.

Hmmm... any opinions on that?

no disrespect, i like it as is... of course bassie's is the opinion that counts.

I appreciate your sensibility, as I kind of like the "roadworn" look too. I'm roadworn anyway, so it suits! But I think they're going to get a simple sprucing-up. I play a lot of Portuguese fests, and those cats like their toys to be shiny! :p More importantly though, I like to be as "invisible" as possible, so an appearance tweak might help that!

I do dig the look of the TL-606s stacked up though, and the funky green, "serious bass player" Trace head on top. Looks like a fairly bad machine to me too!

Thanks for the word, Yeti.

Thats awesome! Id love to run 4 of these together (or 8 for that matter my head does 600 a side at 2 ohms) just one time for the experience alone. I bet that SVT(?) sounds great through those! Looks like you have the same deal where one of your cabs has the small trace labled dust cap and the other has the other larger non labeled cap. I wonder what the story is on that? I ran my cell phone up through my ports of both my cabs and snaped a pic and the speakers are both trace elliot labeled on the magnets. I assume the larger cap is older.

Jimmy, is that a Jazz Bass Special I see? I have one, too, but mine is black. Nice set-up ya have (I love the flag, too).
Nope, 95 P Lyte, which in retrospect I wish I had gotten in black, too. And the flag is gone now...people kept trying to take it out of there, and then the wireless would rattle against the tailpiece, which is why I had it in there in the first place. So now I use a piece of foam.

This will be a great setup. 2x15s sound huge and, for two speakers, move quite a lot of air. Even more than four 10s. (Air movement = number of speakers x diamater squared)

So 4x10x10 = 400, whereas 2x15x15 = 450.

You will have no volume issues at most gigs.

Air movement is not based on speaker size alone. It is also based on cone movement (xmax).

Ok, I see. I was wondering because it has the same kind of knobs as my '87 JB Special. Mine also has a black painted headstock. I don't know why they called mine a Jazz when it has a P body and looks like a P from a distance, even though it has a J neck and PJ pickups. Looks similar to yours with no pickguard. Mine is Japanese and it's a great bass. I just put flats on it, heh, heh.

Too bad about your flag. Dang, that was a nice touch (I am VERY patriotic).
