Is 2 1x15 cabs a bad idea?

I have tried every combination of cabs & speakers. 2 15's work best for me.

What Ahm talkin' about. :bassist:

Issue: The top cab is loaded with an EVM-L, the bottom cab with an EVM-B. The tweeter is disconnected on the lower cab. I got these for a 'steal' from a nice guy who wanted them out of his basement, I took them acknowledging the friendly 'sacrifice' deal.

But what kind of 'real world', significant, not completely math-relevant-only problems would the (possibly minor) difference in drivers present for playing live? I can re-cone them, but if I can get away with this for a while I'm willing to...

Thanks.

Edit: Sending off for inter-locking plastic corners, to facilitate security and 'linkage' between cabs. An inexpensive, easy way to make the most of this...

Don't see pix of your work there- it seems, from what you wrote, like it was there and is gone now. Also you're kind of far for me to go see you... but it's a good idea! I'm just struggling with getting basics together right now.

I'm into getting them into what they should be first- same model cones, stacking corners, lose the dust, the rust on the casters... a few light woodwork/repair tweaks. Lose the tweeter (dutchman the hole back into the baffle), and maybe I'll make better grilles than those round things... get 'em tightened up nice.

But you're right, a little effort into presentation would probably be a good idea! I generally want gear to disappear though. I'd like to have one cool feature stand out perhaps, like your idea with the 'floating speakers' on that 8x10 you had. That sounded pretty cool

it's a terrible, terrible idea :D

and you must indeed be new, 'cause it's well-established wisdom around here that matching is better than mixing when it comes to bass cabs.
