Well mine arrived damaged 
Have emailed Thomann to see what they suggest. Unfortunately the bent volume control shaft is also the active/passive switch which only works on active... other than that it plays nicely straight out of the box, active EQ works fine, not a bad bass at all for the price. We'll see what Thomann says.

Mine actually showed up on Friday, luckily undamaged despite the box being banged up. Put on some fresh GHS pressure wounds and did a full setup.
I’m liking this bass quite a bit. I dialed in a super low action to get lots of mwah. Already thinking that I may do some upgrades on it…

If you don't wanna get into the whole return-exchange etc. just tell them the rest of the bass is fine (if it is so) and you want to keep it and ask for a replacement. I'm assuming you can solder.
In theory I could simply confine myself to the "classic" 4-string range while playing material that doesn't jibe with upper and/or lower register excursions. I have done it. It would certainly tidy up my instrument lineup if I did away with all the 4s & 5s and just went a few 6s. (1 for rounds, 1 for flats, a fretless and maybe one more w/ piezos?)
Alas, in practice I find there's just something about playing rock 'n roll on a 4-banger - & modern pop on a 5. I can't see myself doing away with those in the foreseeable future. YMMV.

I can solder, I build fx pedals for fun... though the control in question although a simple single-gang switched potentiometer has an attached PCB presumably to make assembly simpler as it all goes off to the active circuit block... I guess it depends if Thomann can get a spare or will cannibalise another HB active bass. I'm still wondering how a pot shaft gets bent like that! Must have been put in that way.

If they can find an Ibanez tuner for me, I'm fairly certain they can get you that pot. Especially considering it's their own brand. If the bass has no other defects, I'd strongly suggest going that route. You never know what you might get if they send you another bass.

I've emailed them photos but asked them for comment rather than for a return... rest of the bass is fine and plays nicely. Well made, especially for the price.
Well, see what they tell you and ask them for a replacement. They're very accomodating, I doubt they'll have a problem with that if you insist that you want to keep this specific bass.

It most likely had other packages fall against yours during shipping. If there was no obvious damage to the packaging it make have been pressure over a period rather than impact, so less likely to show. I doubt it left the factory like that.
I'd ask for an entire new PCB and pots as it will ensure there is no damage such as a cracked PCB that may cause you problems later, as well as making it easier for you to install, depending on how much experience you have with this sort of repair.
