Is it bad to date the lead singer ???

This thread reminds me of a really great film involving pretty much this exact scenario.

My wife and I met, and began dating, when we were in a band together. That was 37 years ago and we're still married and still in a band together. But is does add complications. I think it really comes down to the personalities involved (the couple, and the other bandmates) and the level of professionalism of all involved.
This is how it is for us. I joined her band and we worked together for 10 months before her toxic relationship - not with a band member - came to an end. We’re best friends and we do a lot of stuff together besides playing music.. we’ve been together 37 years - still going strong and still working together.

Wife made me sleep in a hotel Saturday night by myself. There were times in this marriage when I have deserved that, this was not one of those times.
Made one of the top 10 sales of my life Sunday and now I live in the guest room.

My mother ruined 3 lives 52 years ago when she booted my dad for being a "kinda crappy husband who left wet towels on the floor!"
My twins are 13. Whatever I gotta do to live with them full time is the price I gotta pay for being a real man who eats as many crap sandwiches as are necessary.
Can't even imagine being in a band with my wife.
She sings like Yoko Ono :roflmao:

I was in a band with a BL and his wife. Things were fine for a year until I read on FB that the band was reforming and my name wasn’t on the roster. This was three years ago and I still don’t know why. I showed up early, I played their songs, I toted subs and drums, I didn’t complain, I learned my parts, I got along. I guess I was just a sub during Covid until they found someone better.

Personally my gf was a little miffed that I didn't want to bring her and my best friends gf in to start a band together. My best buddies girlfriend is a bit messy (drama just seems to find her especially in the bar scene), but they also have their own drama. It's a lot of boundaries to figure out if you're working together. Is there an expectation to be on the same page and support eachothers ideas even if you disagree? Of course there is the risk of letting drama spill over to the relationship from the band or vice versa.

All that to say, I wouldn't necessarily discourage it. I just also would think about if it's a project that you'd feel fine with losing if you lose the relationship as well.
