I’d have to agree that Warmoth and Fender MIA are not comparable. Warmoth gives you many more options, roasted woods, and better quality in general.
agreed much better options....the rest opinion

I tend to agree with the OP. Makes perfect sense to have an option, but I'm convinced the only reason it because "custom" is to get a little more cash out of the buyer.
Someone commented that he's wasting time "whining" on TB. I disagree. I have to believe this is one of the best marketing info tools for all the manufacturers. If people don't think that all the manufactures have someone in R&D looking at bass forums to see what people think of new products, or desire in products for future production... I'd say you're misleading yourself...
OP... keep fighting the good fight... I may one day buy a production P-bass that doesn't have a neck that feels like a club (to me).
That's kind of true, which is a testament to the effectiveness of the fanboy mentality that surrounds Fender. Something that is demonstrably better, is somehow "worse," because it isn't a particular brand. Sheesh. Not to mention re-sale on warmoth parts is terrible regardless of how ell they are or are not made
Fender's fret work out of the box and across all lines still sucks, unless it's CS.
That hasn't been my experience...
Are you looking for the Fender to be MIM or USA? Personally I'd prefer MIM.
And FWIW, if you do it right, one can put together a bass FAR nicer than any USA Fender using Warmoth parts, for well under $1K. I've done it. And usually, they just bolt together and that's it.
But USACG parts are even better.
I disagree as well, the fretwork on every MIJ I own was impeccable out of the box
I mean seriously, there are people from Lakland, Mesa, Dingwall, MXR, Ampeg, Hartke, and a whole host of other companies on here that reply to threads on a regular basis...I find it hard to believe that someone from Fender doesn't do the same, or at the very least monitors these discussions

5. You would be a little irritated too if after stating I want a FENDER p bass with a jazz neck why isn't this a standard option...and 200 yahoo's pop into the thread only to type "buy Warmoth" or "Go elsewhere" or "Build your own" or "Buy a P/J and don't use the J" which makes you realize they didn't read the thread at all
7. I work Graveyard shift
80s Peavey Fury.....the neck is even thinner than a Jazz.....just sayin'
I disagree as well, the fretwork on every MIJ I own was impeccable out of the box
I'm sure you're right; there is no company in the world that would disregard a resource like this.
But there are how many threads complaining about this? Five, maybe? Ten? And yes, you hear it cropping up in places on other threads, too, but the FAR more common refrain are the avalanche of FMIC fanboys who love the Pbass just fine, thanks, and who make it their business in nearly every thread to point out that Leo got it right the first time. I'd guess they're doing that math pretty effectively. After all, Fender isn't losing any sales to the OP; on the contrary. He's still buying not just one bass, but 1.5 basses. So why would they think that's a "problem" they need to "fix?"
For the record, OP, I hate Pbass nut widths too. But fortunately for me, I like J bodies more than you do.
The downside to Warmoth is that their necks are heavy because they are rather stout.
I'm loving my "P-Bass". It'll have a US Fender Pickup installed in it shortly. The neck really is thin and comfortable, best darn P Bass I've owned yet in terms of how it fits in my hands. Can't believe I only paid $100 for something this good.

I buying used and swapping parts and then selling off what is left over...so Fender isn't making anything off of me...In fact I have never bought new from Fender only used....however if the made what I wanted I would buy new...so again they are missing the boat on this one
I like J bodies just fine It's the single Jazz pick-ups I don't like....![]()
