Is It Really Too Much to Ask?

UPDATE!!

As already stated: Yes I built my own...

I still think it's a shame I can't walk into a store and buy one off the rack, but here she is...

my 50th Birthday present to myself...

Surprise!!!...It's a "P" Bass with a "J" neck ;)

Body and Neck came today on the big brown truck, hardware came last week via USPS...all in I just squeaked in just a hair under $500.00 (well under my $800.00 dollar budget) ans cheaper than a new MIM as well!

Body is from a 2018 Player series as is the neck...I have to say I'm quite impressed with the quality...looks like Fender has really stepped it up in the QC department where MIM's are concerned...I have 4 other MIM's and I gotta say this one quality wise outshines them all

I was under the impression MIM's were all three piece bodies...but i can only find one seam in this (do they do 2 piece bodies when a lot of grain is showing?)

The pick-up is also one of the new Alnico 5's and it seems very throaty with nice mid-range

Switchcraft jack, Orage drop cap, 250K CTS pots

2.5 hours of assembly and set-up and we are good to go...will try it this weekend at band reh

Quite the looker!:)

I realize this is an old thread and I didn't read all of thread.
I know Fender in the past has accidentally put precision labeled jazz necks on precision Basses. Also they have made production precision Basses with jazz necks but with jazz pickup factory installed.

So to OP why doesn't Fender make a production precision bass with jazz necks?
So you have to buy two basses to make the swap...mo money, mo money, mo money.

Lol reviving a Zombie thread...

you may "in part" be correct...they obviously want there to be a healthy aftermarket for their "Parts" however I have never purchased anything "new" from fender save small ticket items such as nuts and pick-guards...i recycle and buy "used"...lol

here are my "P" Basses with "Jazz Necks"

enjoy!!!

And I still say these would fit nicely into a niche Fender market like the current Paranormal line...
