Is It Really Too Much to Ask?

I want a Chevy Cruise with a Corvette engine. Why on earth can’t Chevy give me what I want? They have Cruises and they have Corvette engines, just put them together and give me exactly what I want. I don’t care about the logistics of doing this, I don’t care how many other people want it. I want it and on top of that, I want anyone to be able to walk into any dealership and buy it. Don’t tell me it’s not the same thing, I don’t care.
Sorry dude. You’ll have to contact the Chevy Custom Shop for final determination.

Do you really think this a realistic comparison? Really? Jazz necks on P basses are pretty common.

It makes zero difference whether it is the same thing or not. I don’t care how common they are, I’m sure it would be a lot more common if they just did what I want.

The point is, for what I hope is the last time it will need to be made in this post, Fender is not making this combination and the OP needs to get over it. I can’t have my 300 horsepower Cruise and he is not getting a straight up P with a J neck...at least from Chevy or Fender directly. But, in this great world we live in, I could get my Cruise although it might take a while, but I could have the OPs bass this afternoon if I really wanted one. And then, the whining in this thread would stop!!!!!

this is a terrible analogy as the corvette engine will not bolt to the cruze frame...not to mention the car was actually built by Suzuki/Daewoo...and they do at least offer the car with a larger turbo charged engine...and by adding the last sentence it sounds like a three year old temper tantrum

There is absolutely no reason why Fender cannot offer this as part of their parallel universe line...or have offered it on the past as part of their pawnshop line, or a host of various other lines in the company's past...

again I maintain they are missing out on at the very least a few thousand sales a year by not offering this as an option

And again, the majority of us maintain that if Fender could make more money doing it, they would. I think they have a better handle on the market than you do.

I bet KIA could retool their line to make a Corvette, with a J-neck...

... I'm writing my congressman.

you guys are way to funny...

there is no re-tooling involved at all...this combination takes no more effort than someone actually bolting part A to part B

and really being part of a discussion isn't just to say deal with it and move on...as all these post do is make me want to post even more

FWIW I have a Burst P Body in route as well as Maple J neck...the hardware is already here...so a NBD is coming...

once again the entire point of this thread is to debate WHY Fender doesn't have this as a standard offering when it is in fact a very popular mod...

If you don't care to participate or do anything besides type move on...why come in here at all? other than to be churlish and crass

Know what else was a very popular mod? Bad Ass bridges...which Fender does in fact now offer..(Their version at least)

You know what else I like? Precision knurled knobs. I hate Jazz style knobs. I changed them out on my Jazz and Mustang too. I'm tired of doing that. Why doesn't Fender offer Precision knobs on a Jazz? They have tons of them right there.

First thing I do with a Jazz that has knurled knobs as on the VM series is replace them with the standard black knobs.

Yes, it all does come down to the BOTTOM LINE. How much can they make off the addition to the line. Not enough, apparently. I myself couldn't find my particular type of Fender Jazz fretless so I Franken-Fendered mine together from the internet purchases. It's Fender enough in my book Unless Spidey gets something new in answer to his inquiry, I don't believe Fender policy will change anytime soon.. Have a nice day, guys!

good luck with that...I got basically hey we don't deal with the public...how dare you contact us...please talk to the custom shop through a dealer...

I seriously doubt that they responded in anything that comes close to the tone you are implying. Their business model for custom shop instruments is for the consumer to buy through a dealer. Why you would expect them to say anything different is beyond me. You are asking for a custom shop instrument.

Clearly you have some misconceived notions about how businesses actually work. They are not going to make, what you think is a simple change which is not nearly that simple, based on one potential customer’s email. Bring them facts, numbers,
