Thanks Doc,
I wasn't a fan of Peavey back in the day...and I'm still not in spite of owning a very nice neck-thru Grind
The thread is basically me wishing out loud that Fender had this as an off the shelf available option as opposed to having to build one from parts, or having to buy another brand (Which I have already done and stated many times)
I am frustrated that so many of the responses I got were:
"Build One" (already done that see Fanboy reference)
Buy one from another company (Done that as well, I own G&L and Lakland)
Stop whining and complaining (ad nauseam)
all of which really having nothing to do with the actual topic Of why this isn't an option from Fender
apparently (aside from a few responses actually germane to the topic) it's easier to type a drive by swipe...than for people to actually read and participate in a discussion about why Fender Doesn't offer this as a part of any of their product lines, when other companies do...
I still maintain that a few years ago it would have fit nicely into their pawnshop line and would fit nicely today into their parallel universe line without it having to be built in large numbers...
despite all the arguments against I still can't understand why Fender doesn't offer this option (on any product line) as it has been a popular mod since the 60's as evidenced by such well known players as Duck Dunn, Bobby Vega and Carl Radle just to name a few...
About the only argument I can think of is that they have some deep-seated fear that it would undermine their 2 most iconic lines if they started blurring them in (mass) production.
Not so much that they want people to buy both and then swap necks, but it might just be that the *idea* of them coming together like this somehow would cheapen or offend the notion of a pure "P"...
If it ain't that, I got nuthin'
I mean its funny how they offer the P with a P/J config *and* the Jag with P/J when they (wood use and quality not withstanding) differ only in neck and body shape. They should sound essentially the same, right?
Fender has been around long enough that I'm sure there are some crochety old guys in there stomping their feet, refusing to change certain things.
