RE20 on bass sounds real nice. Impractical for gigs (for me) though.

It’s like playing with a giant moon boot, hanging off the side of the bass and it’s hard to use.

I keep 'drinking about' attaching it to a drum stand for better stability than a mic stand which would allow me to use it live but like many of my projects, I lack the time and patience. My K&K is good enough for most live applications

Just my take of course, but for around the same price you can get a Remic 5400LB that fits right under the tailpiece.

But I already own an RE20 (and a similar though not as good for bass SM7B)!

Good point! Well some kind of stand it is then. I’d reccomend the H-Clamp, but the RE 20 is way to heavy to hang on one of those
