Is It Wrong to Put a Squier Logo on a Fender?

The guy used to have an amazing Solo, but then he lost his Han.
As far as theft goes, people will steal anything - its just that the pawn shop won't give em as much for a Squier logo'd bass. But $50 is still a free $50 and will buy stuff. Pawn shop would sell for $150-200. Then someone one day may or may not discover its actually not a Squier.
As far as gear snobs go - man, it's more a hassle to play a Squier live. People might love your tone and then talk to you and if you wont tell them what it is, or say Squier, they might snub you afterwards. I aim for middle of the road explanations "its a Fender" and if pushed "the Classic series" or "Japan" or "USA" if asked (depends which I brought).
I don't see much reason to change the logo on any bass. That said, I might add a logo to a Fender design if its Warmoth parts - though I have 5 Warmoth instruments and only one with a Fender logo, and I bought it that way. Heck, I put a Warmoth neck on a Fender guitar - everything else Fender - and still has no logo.

Would it be wrong to put a Squier decal on my Bullet bass allparts replacement neck? Maybe I need a full disclosure water slide decal that lists all mods and dates of mods with a notory stamp embossed on the back of the headstock. It's the only solution!
Repro squire headstock decals are a great upgrade, but only for pre-cbs models!

There are some Squiers that are worthy of Fender logos. There are some Fenders that are worthy of Squier logos. So I answered "Nobody can know for sure".

I think an Epiphone logo would be much better.
I think it has been said all ready, but it depends on what you do with it. If it is for your own amusement (Though I should ask why do you want to do this?) then fine, it's not hurting anyone.
It is still dishonest to sell a mislabelled bass without informing the buyer, and even then you have no guarantees they will be honest if they sell it. Though, in this case it would harm a seller more than the buyer unless its a standard fender made to look like some rare Squier.

You could really put the cat among the pigeons and use a Gibson logo! The furrowed brows should be worth seeing.
It's wrong. It only encourages the scum of the Earth to make more Squier decals, so even more people will get ripped off down the road.

I think it's a damned brilliant concept, a "sleeper bass" if you will. I wish I had thought of it.
Thats fantastic ! I love it, gives me an idea, I'm refinishing an older Yamaha BB-N4, I'm going to have a decal made up that says Yahama !
As a creative and strange boy, I used to dream of owning a Lotus Esprit, refinished with wood paneling a la my folks' Buick Estate. That's some proto-hipster cool right there. Same idea but way less stupid.

Naturally, because the opportunistic scumbags that are thieves are known for their discerning instrumental acumen. But intentionally undervalue your bass, not the best investment strategy. Other than that it may be the funniest thing I've heard all week.
