Is It Wrong to Put a Squier Logo on a Fender?

All I'm going to say is, if you do it, make sure you replace the Fender neck plate as well. That's the last thing you need is for someone to take a keen interest in your Squier bass only to turn it over and realize it's a Fender.

Yeah, that was originally my thought, but the complete lack of a Jerkweasle reference makes it very unlikely that this is a wolf in Nobody's clothing...

It might make it less likely to get stolen. I used to think it would be fun to have Mattel, Hasbro or some other toy manufacturer's logo on a quality bass.

I like this idea and I'm gonna do it in my Korean Fender P project.

It's wrong. It only encourages the scum of the Earth to make more Squier decals, so even more people will get ripped off down the road.

Yeah I think this might be my oppinion aswell.

It's a funny concept because usually people go the other way making a cheap bass look more expensive, but either way the real legal issue is infringing on a companies trademark. Which is the case either way.
If we asked Fender or Squier how they felt about ebay sellers selling decals of their trademarks I am pretty sure they would be against it no matter what the motive for doing so would be. So i'm not going to give those sellers my money.

Naturally, because the opportunistic scumbags that are thieves are known for their discerning instrumental acumen. But intentionally undervalue your bass, not the best investment strategy. Other than that it may be the funniest thing I've heard all week.

True, but "less likely" weeds out the more discerning thieves. They exist.

I remember walking along a busy four lane street and being approached by a man who asked me for money. I reached into my pocket and pulled out fifty-eight cents in change and offered it to him. He balked and insisted I give him at least a few dollars, or five, or more. I waited for a break in the heavy traffic and tossed the money into the street. I told him that was all the money I had on me, if he wanted it, go get it. I suppose he wouldn't have wanted a Squier.

Not my place to judge what's wrong. But if I didn't want my nice Fender to get ripped (and I have one and I don't want it to get ripped), I'd leave it home and gig with a Squier.
