Is It Wrong to Put a Squier Logo on a Fender?

Do what ever you want with your gear. I'd do something like that if I had no intention of selling that bass. Put it beside another fender and see who can tell the difference between the two very different companies. I bet the "squier" would sound vastly different than a "real" fender.

I don't think I would do it, but, I have to admit, I get a big kick out of taking a stage with my SX bass , with only a BDDI, my sound man gets an awesome sound out of, (it does have Fender pups, a high mass bridge, and good pots). The only one who will notice is a musician, possibly, but I do get a thrill out of it anyway, and have been told..."That's a great sounding bass". That being said, I'm not planning on any new logos for my Fenders.

I happen to like the idea of changing or removing logos. Changing knobs and even faceplates on amps is something I've been known to do. Then when someone asks about the vintage of a heavily worn concentric pot jazz bass on a stand nearby you say, "oh, it's a '94."

I'm going to UP the value of one of my Fenders by screwing this Logo to the headstock, or the body if it don't fit so good up there...

Everybody knows this Logo is synonymous with "rock-star"...

Not if it has tort, flats or is better than your Fodera. It is also encouraged to put a Squier logo on the Fender Jerkweasle.

It might make it less likely to get stolen. I used to think it would be fun to have Mattel, Hasbro or some other toy manufacturer's logo on a quality bass.

No, I think it's just wrong to knowingly mislabel an instrument. In some circumstances (if you were to sell it) it could be considered fraud. Even though you would be selling a more-expensive, higher-quality instrument. Even if not, who would believe you when you told them it was really a Fender MIA and not a Squier?

Another thing to consider is that logo's and trademarks are jealously protected by the companies who own those brands and trademarks. Now granted, Fender owns both of those brands but you may be surprised how protective of branding different divisions of a company are of their own brands. The Fender shop might not be real happy about someone putting a Squier logo on their work. Craftsmen can be funny like that.
