Is Kalium having issues or is this normal?

Probably because he would answer questions on here by suggesting his strings which is a violation of rules for a manufacturer. Maybe he should have added that his strings might work if they could ever ship on time.
Haha :D Are 'commercial users' able to pimp their wares, as long as they have that subscription/tag?

Actually no... That goes completely against the TOS of this site.

Unless someone specifically asks I or any other "commercial user" can not make a specific recommendation or link to a product. Hence why I only post "general" information if I choose to reply to a post.

Paying the fee only allows for posting in the "vendor classifieds" which get zero to no traffic on here.

To add to things... If I were to mention a brand name, this website links to their store. You do not see them because you are signed in. If you were to sign out and see a thread that mentions a brand they sell it links to their store.

Just saw this post on FB ERG group by Kalium's Morten. Note he is guitar-support so you probably should not email him about bass string orders.
"Attention all Kalium Strings customers:
We are currently having problems with product shipping that is occurring after the shipments leave our hands. We are on the case and working furiously to have it fixed.
If you have experienced any such troubles in the last few months or more recently, email me at [email protected] with your order information. All information helps!
Thanks! We know it sucks and we're probably as pissed as you are!
-MF_Kitten"
"It isn't affecting all customers, so it's not a constant problem."

I wonder what could be happening, and why they need peoples order info? I thought that stuff could be tracked. Hope they get it worked out

It can be tracked unless it's going USPS First Class; then it's a crap shoot.

However, I highly doubt that's the reason. I work in e-commerce, and although packages do go missing from time to time due to carrier issue it's not that common of a problem. I'm talking a handful of packages a week out of a few thousand.

I wonder if its a new guy trying to handle the shipping now. It seems shipping problems arent new...i think they had mentioned this same problem months ago. The whole "our shipper sucks " thing. Surely they changed carriers, then.

When it comes to parcels shipping less than 1lb, you really can't beat USPS FC for its price. There is Fedex Smart Post and UPS has their own offering as well, but they only handle the shipment the first leg of the voyage, and USPS will deliver 'the last mile.' IME, it's worth upgrading your service from USPS FC to USPS priority mail just for the better tracking. However, I can't imagine there being awesome margins in manufacturing and distributing bass strings, so every penny saved is a penny earned.

Taking money and not delivering strings at all saves maximum pennies haha

This is amusing, but i should just mention that although some orders have problems, it seems they do not do this, they have even re-sent out orders at no charge to try to replace ones that have not been delivered:
Chris on FB > "we just re-shipped about $900 in "delayed orders" in the hopes something gets there soon"
Wow. Way to go Kalium. Continuing to not accept responsibility for your shortcomings. That's a good way to grow your so called company.
Stupid comment. You have no idea whether or not they are genuinely encountering problems that are not their fault.
Comments here from people who send stuff and have very few problems are not proof that Kalium themselves are not encountering some kind of unique local problem.

I think some folks in this thread (me too) are just frustrated. They are good strings, but they have been having trouble getting strings out for a long time. They are allowed to pay for strings, and dont hear from the company, sometimes for months. The problem with shipping is just one of the reason that have been given over time.
I have ordered 2 sets of strings, and both times the ship label was printed, but never shipped. After a couple of emails, my product shipped. No email from the company, no explanation. These were normal gauge strings...not a special order.
I would like for them to succeed, but seem to have numerous logistical problems that prevent delivery. It would be cool if they would put that on their website.
They claimed the shipper wasnt shipping orders after they were made. Before that it was a bug in the website that wouldnt alert that orders werent filled (didnt affect the payment part, however). Anyway...

$900 worth of orders for them is probably 12-15 orders assuming some folks order one set and some folks might order 5 sets. Just guessing.

Either way, USPS would never lose that many orders in the whatever time frame they 'shipped' them...maybe a week? It just does not happen.

If they lose 10 shipments a week, that's 40 shipments a month.

DOES. NOT. HAPPEN.

Please, spare me the lecture. USPS would not have an isolated incident with one so called company.

This is in reference to them lying to customers. They lied to me right on the phone!! Claimed that there was an order question due to the scale length I chose and that they tried to call me 3 times at the correct number but for some strange reason, none of those calls registered on my phone. They said there must have been a glitch in the phones. I call total BS. How about just ship the strings I ordered? They are very clear on the website about scale lengths and fanned fret basses, etc. so if a customer orders something, fill the goddamn order. They act like a bunch of free spirited hippies that feel like they can do whatever they want because they make good quality and unusual gauged strings.
Concerning:
"Claimed that there was an order question due to the scale length I chose"
"How about just ship the strings I ordered? They are very clear on the website about scale lengths and fanned fret basses, etc. so if a customer orders something, fill the goddamn order."
It was their policy (not sure if it is anymore) to contact anyone who orders the longer strings (for 36"-40" scale) to double check the customer ordered correctly, it was done out of concern for the customer. Perhaps you misunderstood their intention?

The phone issue, they probably messed up somewhere and got confused, it's not really a big issue.

But due to these 2 trivial misunderstandings you have somehow gone to stating that they "Lie to customers" which sounds really serious and suggests lying to people other than yourself too.

When i saw that post by Morten, i copied it here to help, in case it explained order delays for some customers. Then it was twisted by the 'Kalium Hate Club' into an act of lying and deception. This has happened several times now, it doesn't really matter what Kalium do it will be twisted into something negative.

I've been emailing back and forth with Kalium the last couple days. They have been very responsive and helpful.

From what I gather on this thread and their Facebook page, they recently completed a major move and along with NAMM have probably been pretty busy. I too run an internet business and I know how backed up things can get with shipping, even when using something as "simple" as USPS. IMO companies like Amazon are spoiling everyone these days. Years ago it was not strange or unheard of to wait 2 weeks for a package with no update from the shipper.

It's the new standard, and Amazon is pushing it even further with same day shipping and arrival of products purchased in certain cities.

Even selling on Amazon is no small task, and failing to hit metrics will affect your ability to sell on their marketplace. They require same day shipping, nearly immediate uploading of tracking information, and the product has to arrive within its estimated window. Oh, and Amazon gets to approve the return if the customer isn't satisfied. You don't get the choice.

I suggest you stop. Believe me, I'm not trying to stir the pot, I've no dog in this fight, and I'm not being facetious: let the interested parties go get updates on their own, and not reinforce one another's irritation by reacting to Kalium media guys via your copypasting.
