Is Modulus still in Business?

Source? That's highly unlikely. The blow was that Modulus wasn't going to receive any more orders from Mars.

It was speculation based on the number of Modulus instruments on the wall and that other suppliers were owed money. If they were owed money, they didn't make the top 20 and it was less than $220k.

I don't think the MARS bankruptcy would have caused Modulus' demise if such a thing exists. That was eleven years ago.

I'm just going by what my friend, who owns two music stores told me. Which is that he owns most of his inventory. Maybe not standard procedure? I dunno.

For small luthiers, and Modulus definitely qualified as small, dealers buy stock. Fender has been well publicized as being owed money by GC, but they're not small.

Most small luthiers are building instruments on a razor thin margin. They can't afford to consign instruments anywhere.

Exactly. I rarely ever see Modulus basses in music stores, even in the Bay Area because they are made to order. I know a local music store that carries 1 Funk at a time. I asked them why they didn't have more. The guy told me he can't afford to have a bunch of Mod's sitting on the wall getting dusty, implying that they most certainly pay for it upfront.

If they were folding, we'd know already. If that changes, I will or an endorser will let you know. So chillax :bassist:

While I am hoping for the best, it seems like they might be shopping themselves. I would love for them to own up to what is going on. I don't necessarily think any endorsers will know before anyone else. And since they are aware of this thread and choose to say nans.....

I honestly think if they said "Hey guys, here is the deal, we owe ____ and this is what it would take to get us back in the swing of things" that they would receive support. I know I would buy a bass and I don't even need one. They could get help from the high profile guys...and they have a lot of them.
