Is Modulus still in Business?

The people I talked to about my neck issue (at Modulus and various retailers) told me that out of hundreds of Modulus necks they have seen, the number of bad ones was super negligible. Like 5-6 per thousand negligible.

This sounds accurate to me. FWIW- I have spoken to many "in the know" and this company is done. I will keep my 2004 Q5 (neck still is solid), but the lack of CS really sucks.

As many have said since this thread began, their silence is deafening....

Conversely, I just got a EB MM Bongo 4 last week that didn't come with a allen wrench for the bridge saddles. I emailed CS, they said it is not standard to supply one, but 2 days later I received one in the mail for free. The same, if not better, goes for Roscoe Guitars. You have a question or issue, call the number and a person answers the phone and gets you what you need. Call the number and Keith Roscoe very well may answer the phone himself.

There, 2 examples of a large company that makes guitars and basses and a small, boutique one - both have superb CS. It can be done....

Good, Modulus was an overrated bass co. Their basses are a rip and they play like crap.

Just put some studio time in with my Q5 straight through a DI. Everyone who was working in the studio told me later it was the best unaltered bass tone they had heard in a looong time.
Modulus basses, especially at used prices are one of the best deals out there.

I had a q5 for a while that was one of my favorite playing basses ever. I was always scared to death of dinging it and ruining the perfect looking neck. I'm much more comfortable with a beater of a bass in a live situation.
That said it had amazing tone with a ton of different sounds.

yeah, let me catch you up. apparently modulus may or may not be out of business. some know but aren't saying, others are saying but don't really know. then there's the casual observer such as myself- interested but no real opinion, enjoying the show.

Are they currently producing basses? No.

Are they currently servicing basses? No.

Are they currently answering phone calls and/or e-mails? Apparently not.

Given this information, for practical purposes they may be considered as out-of-business at this point in time.

I don't know if this is somewhere in this book of a thread but my home page ad is for The Bass Place in Preoria, Az, it reads "The Bass Place is now carrying Modulus". If they are boobies up it seems like an odd time to start carrying the line.

I am far from an informed person, just throwing that out there. Although admittedly I was tempted to do this post in a cryptic manner, like "I know something you don't know and I can't tell". :D

Hey Guys,

I made a couple calls to some employees of Modulus I know... Well, they aren't employees anymore, and they said Modulus is completely done. Out. Finished. They said they weren't making any money, couldn't make any money, and owe a lot of people a lot of money. No one wanted to buy the company because they were so far in debt. They didn't even complete some of the orders they had on backorder, and have no inventory.

This sucks. I tired to get some more names and numbers for any of you guys that have stuff on order or at their shop, but my buddy wouldn't drop any info. This all comes from a reliable source, but I won't mention his name or past association with Modulus.

So, there is your answer. I'm actually really sad about this. Overall, this is a bad sign for the music industry/bass industry. Good news is a couple of the Modulus guys are supposed to be getting together to start another bass company (out of their garage, I'm sure). But I have no idea if they would be anything like the good ol' Moduli we know and love.

P.S. Anyone who has gear that is with Modulus and you can't get it back let me know and I will try to help the best I can (from the other side of the country, that is!)
