Is Modulus still in Business?

Who runs Bordertown?!

Bartertown. I'm not being a movie equivalent of a grammar nazi, it's just one of my favorite movie moments ever. ;-)

I tried one moses neck and it felt like plastic rather than graphite. I liked the neck on my FB5 a lot. Should have kept it, but it just left a bad taste after trying to contact Modulus in every way short of smoke signals and getting zero response.

In about '94 i played a Q4 at green valley music in watsonville that was strung with maxima golds. I was heartbroken that i couldnt afford it, such a great sound.

Good old Green Valley Music! In 1992 I played a Mod Q5.Tobias,Pedulla PentaBuzz ,Zon Sonus, and Steinberger all for the first time. Would have walked out with the Zon but when I strapped it on it was a little too neck heavy for my taste. I would have gotten the Q5 but I preferred the Bart Jazz style PUPs over the Q5s humbuckers. Great little store,Dennis Murphy, local bass whiz, was part owner or something, and always kept the best of the best there. Jim

Way back when this thread started I thought perhaps Joe would step up as the "new" owner of Modulus. It makes sense if he is into it and the numbers work.

Joe has gotten back to me in the past in a very timely fashion via email and he has a good reputation as far as I can tell. Thanks for the clip, loves me some Oteil.

so are we finally all agreeing modulus is done?
Until there's a bankruptcy filing or the 'name and goodwill' are sold - who knows?

Only whoever owns the rights to use the name can say for sure.

There are many, many possible outcomes. Maybe they'll become a 'design only' company and actually manufacture nothing. Maybe they are contracting manufacturing at another location, possibly in another country. In both of those cases, even if all the tooling and production facilities were sold off, it doesn't mean there can't be a "Modulus Guitar Company."

It's not quite so cut-and-dried as the person who suggested that if they're in business, they _must be_ actively marketing product to new customers. There are plenty of 'In Name Only' companies. As long as they keep their business license current and file tax returns, they can remain in that condition indefinitely.

It _seems_ clear they're not making or delivering anything right now. What form would a "New Modulus" take? Probably at most a handful of people _really_ know...
