I have a 1993 Rickenbacker 4004 Cheyenne I. At one time the tuners had been replaced w/ Grover tuners, but the original gold tuners are back on it. Unfortunately, the holes from the Grovers didn't line up w/ the original tuners and I am left w/ small screw holes showing on the back of the head. I was thinking about selling it, but don't know how this effects the value or if it's worth even selling now. Any input appreciated! Thanks!

Ruined? Not hardly. Just show a clear picture of the extra holes, and mention them in your ad description, and you'll probably get close to the price you'd get without the holes.
Yes, he did because it was bought as a gift from me. He has since retired from playing and it is just wasting away in its case under the bed. He has been trying to convince me that it should be sold so someone else can enjoy it, but I am not sure it's a good idea given they are so hard to find. I'll take some more pictures and post them for you.
put the big ones back on to cover up any annoying cosmetics, keep the originals in a bag in the case, and just tell any future owner what happened and take a little off. Some people may prefer the other tuners or not care at all as long as there is no visual difference when they are on.
ahh thats sweet,but no matter what dont sell it to cheap,dont let anyone talk u down too much because of the fact that some small holes are in the headstock

Thanks ! Yes it is a rare bird indeed , for a collector or player they won't be too bothered by that , it could be restored as well , a fine Luthier would match the wood , dowel it and finish it , though you may still see it . I would probably put the other tuners on it and forgetaboutit and rock it . Great basses , big fan here . My '08 cii :love

My husband fell in love w/ it when he saw it on a Rickenbacker poster (which he still has I believe!) that showed a bunch of different Rickenbacker models. As luck would have it, I found it on eBay right before Christmas of 1999 and got a pretty good deal on it to boot! He only played it in the studio and on New Years Eve gigs, otherwise it's been sitting in the case collecting dust.

Who cares what the backside of the headstock looks like.
