Is there any bass you would not sell?

I have a MIJ 90s jazz bass(bought used less than $500) that ive kept for 3years, I started playin around 4years ago. Its not a particularly amazing piece of instrument, but its been my workhorse for as long as i could remember. Ive since removed its pickguard and pasted stickers on it, upgraded its PUs and added a onboard preamp to it. Its currently my only bass now (ive owned lots of bass, but they eventually went away to fund my new GAS).

I cant imagine myself with that bass, even if there comes a time where i favour another instrument over it id still not sell it due to sentimental values. Of course, unless someone offers me a 50,000k dollar for it...>_<

This one's easy.. My Lakland Skyline Jerry Scheff 5 string. One member of this board, and a very knowlegable player / bass dealer call it "the nicest 5 string Lakland, US or Skyline that he had ever played. And he has played dozens, if not more. Needless to say, I agree.

I've got one that I would never sell. My Birdsong Cortobass.

I'd never sell it for two reasons:

(1). It's the best bass I've ever owned. It's perfectly balanced, sounds awesome and plays "like butta."

(2). My daughters' names are burned into the back of the neck. Probably the only people who would consider buying it play in Christian rock bands or church groups because of it.

This one is easy for me, as well. 1997 Lakland Classic 55. Just a great playing bass! I have to say, I wish I had a Scheff 5 string. I really like the look of those, but now it seems they hardly come up for sale. I should've gotten one when they were in production. Happy New Year!

My L2000 I suppose. The resale is so pitiful on these, especially unlined FLs, that I've never been able to justify getting rid of it. Also, I've been carving and grinding on it for so many years to get it to fit me, I keep it around for playability reasons alone.

It's also an older model with the 3 bolt neck attachment and the original bi-cut neck. So it's a little bit of a '57 chevy already, tho it'll probably never be worth a dime (in my lifetime).

Though I never say never, I'm probably gonna hang on to my 1999 55-94 Classic forever. It's got the much-sought-after old Barts, is 1 of 4 ever made in Black Sparkle and is signed by Jason Scheff. Plays and sounds like no other bass I've ever touched. I sold off several great basses at well below market value to get it.

MY 81 G&L L-1000. I bought used in early 90's and it's one awesome bass. I play mainly my G&L L-1505 now but I would have to be almost homeless before I would sell my 81. Never say never right? Anyway just something about the tone of mt 81 that just speaks to me. Thank you Leo!

My first bass. MIM '06 (?) P-Bass.

Not that it's a fantastic bass. The nut broke. The neck broke. Got a replacement. Pickup sucks. But it's my first bass. Significant sentimental value there.

And for God's sake, it has my blood on it. No lie. The relationship between it and me is, literally, sealed in blood.

Nothing I wouldn't sell at some point. I sold my first bass to fund my second. I have a nice P Bass that I can't see selling, but I'm already on the fence about my Godin A5, and some day, I'd definitely lose my L&#257;kland 55-02 to help fund a US Lakkie.

I thought I'd never sell my old Thunderbird, but when the finances hit rock bottom about 10-15 years ago, out it went. I have yet to feel that way about a bass since.

All of mine. I could never sell any of my basses i have a fender highway 1 p bass, epiphone thunderbird, a warwick corvette st., and some 3/4 size cheap p style bass and im planning on never selling any of my guitars intil i die.

My 2000 MIM Jazz. After upgrading it to Basslines hot and vintage and a BAII bridge and setting it up myself, this is the bass I judge all other basses I play. Sounds perfect. Better than any stock American jazz I have played or any other bass for that matter and I have owned a ton of sub $2k basses. MIM's have a USA neck that is finished in Mexico. I bought it new in 2000 and the only thing I have switched after the initial BAII and pickup upgrade was the pickguard, flipping between tort and black. Never sell it. Not worth really much so the temptation to dump it for money isn't there and it plays and sounds killer.

I got two:

1. My EBMM StingRay because it was my first good bass and it was used on my first gig.

2. My 1991 Warwick Streamer Stage 1. My mom got this for me so I'm pretty attached to it. Plus it is the best playing bass I have ever touched.
