Is this a bass player and amp thing or....

That's correct and I spent my money... if you can get me a deal with Buick I'll give you a car...but as with Genz/Lakland/DR strings, looks like I'll be buying my Buick too...Endorsement motivation has been explained to you by me and my company and endorsers of other company's and their stand on it. But let me take a stab at this one "Well what else are they going to say, we give it away or pay our endorsers"... Get over the witch hunt dude... Maybe I am just a freaking simpleton that gets turned on by crappy gear and talking about it.

I use DR strings, love 'em, I owned a USA Lakland, loved it but actually couldn't afford it and I'm strongly considering a Shuttle so we have that in common. And I will hold you to the Buick should you land that deal.
It's not a witch hunt, and I was born at night but not last night. Send me a message so I don't miss your threads raving other amps on Talkbass. I'll join in.

What's all the hubbub, Bub? Do you really think people with limited endorsements would play something they didn't like just to get an amp at 5% above cost? I certainly wouldn't. And neither would you.

No, I don't think they would play gear they don't like for a 5% discount. Where did the 5% figure come up? Just curious. If I liked Epifani, Bergantino and Mesa and one of them offered to give me amps at cost or free use of amps across the country so I didn't have to haul gear or some such benefit I would have no problem choosing the brand that gave me that type of perk. Who wouldn't? I think Markbass, Eden, Epifani, etc all make professional quality gear that I could be and in some cases have been very happy with. It's not a question of using gear you didn't like. It's all good gear.
And since there seems to be a need to continually bring up Eden, I heard the clips of Fretlessboy through the Eden gear and the GB gear and from the clips I think he sound better in the Eden clips but he sounded good through the Genz Benz too.

I said get the Buick dealand I'll give you one.
I think you should go with Eden before the 6.0. A WTX260 may suit you better.

I think the WTX260 is under powered for my needs. I think the Eden gear might now be priced a little to high for my current situation. The Shuttle has enough power and is priced where I need it to be. That is where I'm leaning but I am so use to my WT-400 I'm hanging on with it. The tube pre in the Shuttle gives me hope that I might find a head priced where I want to be with the tone I'm comfortable with. We will see soon enough.

One thing I've noticed about TB is that the endorsements are out in the open. I really do like that feature, particularly when a thread comes up about Guitar Center and one of the GC manager types that frequent the forum pop in and say, "hey, thanks for the feedback, I'll pass it on."

Anyway, hope you continue on with quality guitar forums. Definitely steer clear of Harmony Central and Ultimate Guitar. I have mixed feelings about thegearpage (especially now that the Emporium is for paid members only).

your relentless......If I get one of these and hate it you're gonna have some 'splainin' to do Lucy. If I like it I will post one time. "Yes, the Shuttle is good". No more, one time only. If I don't like it I will be like a bad penny. (not really)

Maybe something not being considered so far is that regardless of endorsements, playing style, talent, level of success...some folks just enjoy talking and typing about their favorite gear. Others not so much. I never judge others by how much they talk about their favorite brands. :)

I tend to judge others by how much they bash certain brands. Now there's a whole 'nother issue. Just like certain members here have come to be known for waxing excessive over their favorite gear...others have earned a reputation as bashers. Who would you rather hang out with? :hmm:

M. M.

actually you are relentless...but I'll tell you like I have told many, go play it and decide for yourself. You are the one that in the end must use it. So please play everything you can and decide like an inteligent person based off what you hear.

About the only Talkbass thing in this IMO is the baseless accusations.
:D

I have guitarists friends who on more than one occassion have told me that they wish they had the type of comraderie bass players seem to have. We, generally speaking, aren't trying to keep secrets or protect our mojos by not talking about what we do and how we do it. When we find something that blows us away, we talk about it. Why? Because MAYBE other bassists might appreciate the heads up and MAYBE they'll be at least as happy as we are. And that's all. Of course for some folks here it can't be that innocent. Several of my friends now use the same brand amp I do and I'd like to thank Markbass publicly for the commission I didn't get... for obvious reasons. And I've recommended other brands to others in the meantime, not out of spite;), just because it was based on what their goals seemed to be.

Calling people shills is at it's core ignorant, particularly in the cases where someone is accused of being an endorser who isn't. They can't just be a happy customer, can they? Of course not.
:D

I talk about stuff I like. I answer questions freely. I recommend things I don't use and wouldn't necessarily buy for myself. I don't tell people to dump gear. I know everyone won't like what I like and I'm not trying to get them to. I won't bash other gear though some thin skinned types may look at merely saying "I" don't care for something is automatically "bashing".

One thing I don't get is the fascination some seem to have with gear they have no interest in. They spend more time in some brand threads than the people who actually bought, use and like the gear or are considering it. That is a Talkbass thing.
;)

And if you like it and someone asks a question about it that you can answer, you'll remain silent?

That's what truly seems to bother some here, the fact that people talk about gear they like or have experience with. On an internet forum.
:D

Thank you for crystallizing my exact feelings, bro, especially since USAJO has often done this to me in the past. I like the guy, but he has a tendency to ask the same questions and make the same comments over and over in hopes of getting different results. On the other hand, I am glad I've finally established my credibility with him by saying the tweeter in Markbass combos was annoying and needed an attenuator. It's very important to me to establish my credibility with him, and I am SOOOOOOO deliriously happy that I have now. Lesley Gore once hugged me and told me I played her show as well as anyone she's worked with, but that pales in comparison to USAJO finally giving me credibility.

:smug:

Sorry USAJO, but you had that coming ;)

For the record lots of people have called lots of other non-endorsers shills on lots of products. I had someone call me one, I don't remember who. Since I didn't consider that to be a very bright thing to do, I considered the source.

:D

Brad and JimmyM if I was the sole voice in the forest I would be concerned as to why some posts became annoying and repetitive to the point of arousing concern for some. I'm not the only one who questions motivations. It's hilarious that my posts every few weeks are redundant but the same guys feeling the need or desire to respond to every post about their favorite amp everyday for whatever reason is not noticed as odd to you. We will never agree on this but that is ok.
Leslie Gore and USAJO in the same sentence that's something I never expected to see. Too funny.
By the way JimmyM and Brad the Shuttle threads have now taken complete control of and are dominating Markbass threads. But maybe the insertion of Leslie Gore's name will turn this around. ;););)
