Is This a Fender Custom Shop Body?

Howdy all,

Another local bassist is selling this loaded body and says that it's a Fender Custom Shop. What say you?

Can you explain how you arrived at this conclusion?

It doesn't look anything like the custom shops relic work. It's not stamped "relic" underneath the neck plate on the back (it's sometimes under the guard iirc). There's no custom shop stamp in the neck pocket itself. Mute holes are uneven. It's drilled for mute holes yet not drilled for bridge cover.

That's a start

Thanks for the detailed info. I have a real Custom Shop neck that I was considering pairing with this body, but I'm probably not interested in the body if it's not a real Custom Shop. :-(

Here's the other thing to remember.... gut instinct and intuition are very important. Your gut instinct and intuition told you that you needed to post pictures on the forum because you had enough hesitation and doubt about the validity of the bass body. When your guts are telling you that something might be amiss, very often it is.

Best of luck in your search my friend! You'll find a body that youll feel good about !!!

There's pictures of two different neck pockets there. If the seller posted both of those pics in his ad, that alone seems a little fishy. What about that last pic of the completed bass with stacked knobs? That's not the same bass either. Neither is the bass with 'RELIC' stamped on the back. I think this whole thing stinks.

I think you are confusing things. He posted the initial 3 pictures, I posted pictures of examples of what custom shop relic basses should have for markings. The ones I posted are entirely different basses than the ones in the original post.

Ok... I'm not sure how I'm confusing things. There's 7 pics attached to Quadzilla's first post.

Does it just show all the pics in the thread when you click on attachments?

I'm only showing the initial four that he posted.

Attached is a screenshot of his post.

The other three, which is the one marked relic, the one with the red custom shop stamp inside the neck pocket, and the Sunburst stack knob are ones that I posted In post #8.

Anyway, here's the screenshot of his initial post , only shows 4 photos...

Ok, I get it... So when you click the thumbnails and the viewer opens up, it shows all the pics that have been posted in the thread, not just the pics that were attached to that particular post.
