Used to be Pawn shops were a place to get a good deal on anything....
Nowadays... not so much. Over the last few years I've notice prices are getting pretty damn close to "New Retail" especially at Pawn X change

OP, first I'm not knocking your bass here at all, or any other PV bass OR guitar for that matter, so I apologize for coming across that way. Truth is I've played many, way more decent Peaveys than bad ones, and I've played many a crappy Fender that a good PV would easily walk all over. Same goes for SOME of their amps, but that's something altogether different. And totally IMO.

Anyway, it was the obligatory Fender comparison that I was getting at. I've been guilty of it too... My bad if I offended the OP or anyone else.

LOL!!! Peaveys are good, but not that good. Let's not get carried away. Everybody has a cheap something-or-other that's "better than most any Fender of the same era, dood".

Well, I think the Furies I've played are pretty much just as good as Fenders. USA Peaveys of that era have great necks, and they sound terrific, IMO. The finish may be a little on the thin side compared to Fenders of the same era, I'll admit. I owned a Fury for a while, and really wish I hadn't messed with the electronics (for no good reason), then sold it. If you don't like thin necks, though, this isn't the bass for you.

The sound is what does it for you.

I love tha way it sounds.

It has some advantages. It has a heavier bottom,
but less mid.

You can add mid, but you can't get rid of it.

That makes tha Peavey maybe more versatile.

So, if it sounds better to you,,,,,,

The fury is a Precision clone. A damn good one, some may even say a better one, but still a clone. So the comparison is absolutely unavoidable. Especially when the price is 1/10th of a Fender of that era.

I FOUND THE RATTLE!!!

It was tha handle on tha "A" string tuner,

I took a big pair of channel lock pliers and
squeezed it real hard and it quit rattling.

If your rattle comes back, you can solder the handle to the stem, I've done this repair a couple of times. (be sure to use some paste flux)

Your Fury looks GREAT now that its all cleaned up !

I'd take it over a Fender any day !

Yeah, Peavys have pretty thin necks. i have a peavy fury myself and couldn't stand it, but eventually got used to it. not a real biggie, but make sure the strings you put on aren't too thick (a .110 e-string should be good)

I cleaned it up and took tha stickers off it. I
put some black paint on the nicks. You can
still see them. But it is not noticeable. It has
a few belt buckle scratches, but not too bad.

Here's how she looks now,

I played it. I really like it. I didn't realize it at
the pawn shop, but this bass has the thinnest
neck I have ever played,

I feel a lot better about her now... Especially
finding that rattle,,,,

She is definitely female. So graceful and beautiful,
yet bold and powerful.

so I can stand up and play.
