Is this a real player jazz

Do you think this is a real player jazz bass? The lettering on the headstock is black with gold outline but at fender and Seeetwater websites the headstock lettering is gold with black outline. Also, at fender and Seeetwater the player jazzes have the F stamped neck plate.
When I zoom in on the back of the headstock it does have made in Mexico with an Mx serial #.

Serial number is from 2010/11 so it is too early to be a Player model. It may be a MIM Standard, but there are not enough pics to be certain.

Late model standards are very close in spec to Players. Pickups will be ceramic if original, where Players are alnico. The Standard fretboard will be rosewood rather than Pau ferro on the Players.

Could still be a good deal as a Standard (assuming it is genuine), but you would want more cash in the trade.

Something doesn't look right.

And why would you even consider trading an American Pro II for a "player"? And give them cash!?

You seem to have the entire situation running backwards. I own 3 American Pro IIs. They are way above a player series. Looks like you're getting the short end of the deal for sure.

It looks like a rosewood fretboard. Here's a couple more pictures. it looks in pretty good shape. Any idea what they sell for?

Im getting the MIM plus cash

The seller has it listed as a Player series bass.
Clearly it's not.
It's an 11-year-old MIM bass.
How old is your bass, a year or so?
A new Player Jazz bass sells for $750.
What does an 11-year-old MIM sell for, $450, maybe $500?
Is he purposely misrepresenting it or did he buy it from someone who lied to him?
If he knows it's not a Player bass, can you trust anything else he says?

I think he meant the guy with the player bass is going to give him cash on top, not him give the other guy cash plus a nicer bass…

Chiming in with the same question as everybody else. What's wrong with you ProII?!!
Nothing is wrong with it. Heres the part I left out. I play guitar and bass and I need cash for a guitar build but I still need a decent playable bass. My band has percussion, drums, keyboards, vocals, backing vocals. I feel like I can play a player or MIM standard and fit well in the mix. And use the xash from the deal to build my strat.

That is a reasonable explanation, but the bass players on the bass player forum will never accept it. :-)

What don't you like about the Am Pro 2?

I understand the logic, but are you sure you've thought this through? Why not just save up money for the guitar and keep the nice bass?

Okay. So, first of all, downgrading don’t go down well round here, even if you are a guitarist but I understand. Not clear how much of a profit you’re going to make off this deal to put to a guitar build. Don’t know what you’re building but I hope you don’t end up with two instruments you’re not totally happy with. Good luck.
