Looks like a guitar amp from here, considering the EL34 output tubes. That should have a solid state preamp. What's the model number? I've seen guys round here with similar amps priced at $300 in good shape that won't sell, so $350 for one in questionable shape is pretty high. Have a qualified tech go through it first to make sure everything's right. And the spider webs look like the stuff you use for decorating at Halloween, should be easy to remove.

I can't go to the link. But if it has four EL[DEL]84[/DEL] EL34 or 6CA7 tubes, it's the Music Man HD-130 or maybe the later HD-150 series. Power tubes were the same whether it was the HD-130 or HD-130 Reverb. The bass amp had different tone control centers on one channel and a "Deep" switch. The guitar head had tremelo and reverb.

With proper TLC, it'd be a decent amp. I personally have never been much of a fan of any Music Man amps.

I'd say You're looking at at least $300 into that TLC by a tech, unless it's just the graininess of the pic that makes the amp look like it's never been cleaned.

IOW, I'd say that's a way too high a price for it as well.

Edit: with a very quick search, it seems like a One-Thirty would be a logical guess IF that's a pre-tube shield and not an aluminium cap on the left side between the transformers.
Not too many MusicMan's had tubes on the pre or in the driver section AFAIK.

It looks like the bass version to me, thought the pics are not clear. I had the lower-wattage version of that amp, and absolutely loved it. Really great tone, very underrated. But I have to say, that particular one looks like an ogre ate it and crapped it out, and I agree with T-Bird that you'd have to spend a few hundred $$ more just fixing it up.

OK, I've looked at the pictures now. It's definitely the HD-130 bass head, an earlier version with the 12AX7 driver tube in it. The head's too short to have the reverb tank in it. I really liked the one I had from 1977 until about ten years ago. I used it as my only amp head until about 1982 when I started experimenting with more powerful SS heads, pre/power amp rigs, etc. But I kept the HD-130 until I moved and needed to get rid of some extra stuff, and I unfortunately chose to sell the MM head too. Even though I was a Fender dealer ('76- '88) I think the Music Man HD-130 was WAY better than the Bassman 100/135. More robust low end authority, much better built all around, and more rugged.

If I was in the market for a 100 watt tube head I'd go for this one.

Anybody who wants to get a tube amp that old needs to have in reserve about as much more as the purchase price for re-tubing and replacing the filter caps, regardless of the make or model of the amp.

Tell you what. Ive got a MusicMan Hd-150 head and matching 1x15 bottom with the original JBL speaker in it. Hands down best bass amp Ive ever heard. I also own the Terror Bass 500 head from Orange. Both very good amps, Musicman is unmatched.

I might be picking up a MM 2x10 cab today. Going to check one out and if its price is negotiable, Ill own a MM fullstack.
