Is this wrong to ask?

wait what? shouldn't he at least wait until he gets a reply from the dealer..?

I fail to see why you'd say that, $240 would be an excellent price (assuming its in good condition) let the man be.

Because if we are talking about an original then so is $299, it's hard to look a gift horse in the mouth.
Yes, both are great prices. I just want the one that was advertised.

No reply for my email yet. They might just ignore me.

Dude, those guys are really cool. I respect that you're trying to be discrete about it, as you should. They're a great store and talking to the owner wouldn't be hard. IME if you call you'll be talking to the owner already (especially if it's actually the store I'm thinking of)

and honestly, I wouldn't be too upset about it if they don't want to sell it at the price you thought it would be. Yes, they should do it at the advertised price, but it's up to them, at their discretion. Try not to get pissed and remember, they didn't cost you a drive, money or even effort yet, you haven't made a transaction yet, so no worries there.

Are you close to Miami? I'm looking to trade a number of pedals and will soon be looking to move an amp and cab... I would love not to ship :) PM me.

I'd just wait for one on ebay, IME they do come up around that price.

Be prepared for crap bypass, difficult to power, a massive pedal with awsome tones.
I honestly do not give a **** about bypass, power and size. It looks and sounds amazing. Are the III+ Reissues any good? I can get one of those for like $260. I'd rather spend another $30 and get the real deal.

I should have taken a screenshot of the page last night when it said $240. Stupid me.

so last night it was one price? and the following day it went up but you didnt order it when it was advertised for less? Why didnt you order it last night when the price was lower. More then likely if you called and raised a fuss you would get the price matched, but if they changed the advertised price that is their right to do. If you tried to buy it at 240 and it showed up in your cart at 299 is one thing, if they changed the price and you missed the special cant really blame the store.

It was changed right after I asked to buy it.

Often disclaimers are put in because some people believe them, when in fact they are not always legally binding.

It reduces lawsuits ect. because people do not know any better.

It could be considered false advertising, just the reason by law retailers have to sell at the advertised price even if mislabeled.

Unfortunately it sounds like this is what happened. Sometimes the item really is on sale for a "limited time only". I bet a cool conversation with the store owner will get you a lot closer to owning the device at the price you want versus immediately going for a confrontation and alienating the people at the store. I wish there was a good music equipment store within 30 miles of my house.

+1

A smart business manager appreciates the difference between a small short-term profit and cumulative long-term profits; if this vendor isn't that smart, do they deserve your business?

During tough economic times, it's far easier to honor an advertised price than it is to lose a long-term customer. If you communicate this basic idea to the manager of the business calmly and dispassionately, and he won't budge on the price, walk away.

Hope you get somewhere with them. They seem to have a pretty good reputation. Unfortunately, I have never had a good experience dealing with that shop. Over the past 10 years I have contacted them via telephone when shopping for several major, and a couple of minor items and have never felt the love as a customer. To boot, I have always found better pricing elsewhere.
Good luck!
