Does your bass stay in tune?
I had a MIM Fender jazz that I bought in tune & almost never had to touch the tuners. Even after playing out.
I have a ESP LTD B205 that only the A string wanders a little. Also a Squier jag that only requires minor tuning even after going back & forth to gigs. I recently bought a fender p that was tuned down 2 frets. I have since tuned normal. It still wandering a little but should settle down soon. How about you guys? Yes, I tune before every practice & gig.

I've had to make small adjustments to my Dingwall but once I tune it, it stays in tune until I change the strings or I bump into something.

Generally, yes. But on a gig I'll still obsessively do a quick check between every number. An Alembic I had always kept going out of tune on stage, so I picked up a habit there. And it's kind of second nature now.

New strings take a while to settle, of course. I'll just stretch them a little at the octave and nurse them up to pitch every 15 minutes or so, until they seem stable and gig-ready.

For the most part, yes. And I live in a highly-temperate region in close proximity to salt water, so I'm always rather intrigued by those TBers who reference the need for continual tuning and seasonal truss rod adjustments. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Seriously guys? Nearly every time I pickup my bass (or any bass) it's a bit out of tune.

And my current bass has a neck on it that barely moves, regardless of the weather.

I guess I have crappy tuners?

I have a lot of basses. Two of them go out of tune during humidity changes. They're both hollow bodies

For me it depends on the bass. My Fender Am Std Jazz seems to never go out of tune even while playing. On the other hand, my Bongo, SR4 and SR5 all go out of tune a lot so I check between every song and usually have to adjust a little. My new Yamaha BBNE2 Nathan East stays in tune better than any of my EBMMs but not as well as my Fender. Go figure, the Fender is the cheapest of the lot.

mine stay in tune for the gig, after bringing to pitch. but i don't mind re-checking throughout the evening (fretlesses) especially during weird/humid/dry weather. and then i carry them around in gig bags, so they deserve a check before playing. if i put them on stands at home: i'll check before recording something, or if i haven't picked up a particular instrument for several days. they stay in tune: i just have reasons to see if they're not! i hope that makes sense.

I had a Fender Am Delx Jazz that went out of tune pretty quick, and a Warwick Corvette that was almost as bad. Neither was 'bad,' they just needed tuning about every day. Other than that, a couple ATKs, a couple BTBs, no problem. My cheapest basses have always been the best for me.

After I tightened the tuner mechanisms, which were too loose from stock, on my Ibanez Mikro it holds tune pretty well.

To be perfectly in tune it usually need some subtle minor adjustments before rehearsing or recording, but for practice it usually holds tune well enough for me not to notice between practice sessions.

Depends a little on how much and how hard I play it, combined with the conditions it has been transported under for example if the tuner mechanisms has touched something while lying in the gigbag and weather, mainly temperature, if transported.

At least it holds tune considerably better than my guitar.

I've not experienced an electric bass going out of tune much, even with aggressive playing, unlike guitars. The only exception is my Frankenbass, which I is kind of wonky.

Out of sheer habit, I tune up whenever I practice. Once had someone tell me it developes your ear, which I tend to believe. That said, most of my basses stay in tune, the exception being my electric-acoustic 7-string.

So after the long-winded lead up, my answer is yes.

Gig bags will throw a string, or two out of tune, but all my instruments stay in tune unless the weather has a drastic change. I always check it before a gig starts, and a string, or two might need slight tuning, but after that, they all stay in tune for the entire gig.

I live in South Florida with little temp/humidity changes. My basses are rarely out of tune unless they travel in a gig bag.

My Mod Q5 (w Graphite neck) is almost always in tune even when pulled out of the case...
Similarly, so is my '54 Kay C1 which almost always amazes me.

my 2014 Fender MIM Jazz stays relative real close, and I don't know if its the Hipshot bridge or medium gauge Chromes? By real close I mean very slight tweaking if any on 4 strings with stock tuners in less than a couple of minutes.
