It looks like poor Carol Kaye doesn't understand the internet

There's many people that don't understand how torrents work which is why the case against The Piratebay was not won by the owners of The Piratebay.

The dispute over who played on what has nothing to do with copyrighted material be misused, stolen or otherwise.
tru dat,and in law one must take steps to protect their copyrighted property,or it can be argued later in court that they did not exercise due diligence ergo they allowed said property to fall into public domain

She thinks that she can shut down torrenting when massive corporations that are worth thousands if not not millions of times more than any money shes ever seen are unable to shut it down? Must be nice to be old.

I read it (and a couple of links). I must admit, I'm not really sure I understand it either. Is he just saying his site is reporting/linking to the other sites that are the ones that are actually posting the material in question? What is "torrenting"?

And while I understand her anger, she should research assisted by someone who knows about this stuff first. Evidently, she's a stubborn and not so pleasant person.

I understand her anger. But seriously, she's never used a Real Book, not even once?

She's a good player but there always seems to be drama with her. :scowl:

Torrenting or bit torrent is a peer to peer file sharing protocol. It allows you to transfer enormous amounts of data files without putting alot of stress on your computer. It accounts for about half of all internet traffic.
The OP is not a hosting site and apparently is not involved in torrenting in any way other than providing a reporting forum for torrent activity. Ms. Kaye's argument while quite valid is misguided to say the least.

Thanks.

Yeah, I always thought she seemed a bit off her rocker. This doesn't help.

BTW, I've seen some of your YouTube clips in recent months. Nice. :bassist:

It's like if you went after CNN because they reported a story in which someone downloaded your music because you think CNN was the one who stole your music.

yeah, that's a pretty good "old media" analogy.

I can't believe people are STILL fighting against the internet and media sharing though, it's like a manufacturer of horse saddles getting upset with Henry Ford because the car has made riding horses obsolete.
