IME you just cant beat a stack of quality 112s. I am running two epi UL112s S1 and it is beneficial in many regards. Its portable, easy to fit in the car and easy to move. The tone is sufficiently deep without being too deep. Lately I find that I am playing alot of those plywood stages that are built about 80cm off the ground. This makes them very boomy for bass and with a 115 its just too much. Also, since each UL112 is 19" wide I can stack them on end to get a nice tall stack that gives a good "wall of sound".

A single cab may be beneficial when dealing with stairs, but I find I dont run into stairs that often. With either my wt400 or LMII I have plenty of volume with the 112 x 2 stack. My band usually plays small to medium pubs.

I've had 8's, 15's, 2x10's, and 12's of varying quality.

My favorite is the Epifani UL2-112 ... I sold everything else.

My least favorite for a standalone was the 2x10 (Avatar)... just didn't go low enough for me.

I think for my needs the Epi single 12 is the ticket. Someday I'll get another, but I haven't found the need yet. I'm sure there are other (Genz Benz, Bergantino, Schroeder, EA, etc) nice single 12's but I haven't had the pleasure to try them.

Its too bad there is such a jump from 12" to 15"... I'd be interested to see what the boutique builders could do with a 13" design.

I have owned my 2 GS-112's for 6 years and I'll probably never own another type of cab. I had used a GK 1001RB for those 6 years but I just bought an LM II and the first 3 gigs I did with that head I used just one cab and that set-up really was amazing. Even the drummer said it sounded amazing. And yesterday I did a gig in a larger venue where I use both cabs and it was truly like seeing God. I did a lot of gigs with the GK and those cabs, but the LM II and those Aggies are totally mind-blowing. I used to use 15's exclusively but I'll never use anything from now on but 12's. :D )-(

LMII & two Bergantino 12's HT & EX in the ER version. I called it the voice of God when asked to describe it. I have played fo 36 years and played many wonderful rigs.
2-10 combo's on 4-10 boxes by SWR Eden & Trace etc.. They were all great but there is nothing I have ever heard that can compare. I also have made a few converts along the way. It ain't cheap but it sure sounds good.

I have an Eden WT-550, best amp I've ever owned, and 2-UL1-112 Epifani cabs, best cabs I've ever owned.
I hope to some day own another, for a stack 3 high:You know for those outdoor jobs and mayby for some indoor jobs, just because it would feel so good.

I have been playing GS112s since the week they came out. .could it be 10 years already? maybe..
I had 4..and when all 4 ar on with an SVT head or my Genz GBE1200 it is very punchy and loud..
just sold two gs112s today to get a pair of Genz Benz Neox112s.. cant wait till they get here to have a listen....

I love 12s... the aggys have a huge bottom and i love that

After a visit to Club Bass last Saturday, I reconfirmed that 112's are my preference. I've been enjoying my LMII/AE112 since I bought it last summer. My HS210 is a nice cab paired when with my AE112, but definitely not my cup of tea on it's own.

I first tried an AE210 just to compare to my HS210. In general, I found it to have very similar sound characteristics. I'm sure one would hear subtle differences if A/B'd side by side. I tried an EX112ER on it's own which found it to be a bit muddy. Probably because the lack of a tweeter. I then paired the EX112ER with an AE112. Sounded nice, but didn't do it for me. My initial impression was that I liked my AE112/HS210 stack better. I finally tried 2 AE112's stacked and loved it. No question that it's the ultimate cab setup for me. I'll be getting a second AE112 as soon as I can sell my HS210.

So anyone need an HS210? ;)

I love me some 12's :)

Let's get some pics up in here!

i have been playing thru a wt-400 and 2 ht 112's for a few years now and have loved it. i did have the chance to play thru 1 15" and was moved (literally) by it. but, of course, i don't know that i would be able to move it! i like my lite berggies. i appreciate a thread that supports me!

and now that, that is said...

So anyone need an HS210? ;)

i am real curious how this would sound with 1 ht112. (i don't have the er version). i am supposed to be saving my money for other things... but... it has been in the back of my mind to try one out.....

fajah, maybe we should talk.....

I gig regularly with an Avatar 112 (8ohm) paired w/ my GK700RBII. Plenty of clean headroom, and I love the onboard dialable DI that the GK has. I run a mic cord from it to the mixer and use our PA for the big volume. We try to keep some sanity in regards to stage volume, so we dont have to wear earplugs. Our PA has a pair of 12" mains, a pair of 15" mains and a pair of Mackie 15" active subs. Low pass filter on the mixer set to 100Hz. So everything below 100 hz. is only going to the subs. Bass sound great thru this setup, and the best thing is that my 112 weighs 39 lbs.

I went with a 2x12 because it was significantly cheaper and I figured I'd never take just one cab out anyway. The GB NeoX 212T has kick back wheels so it's easier to move than two 1x12's. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade or convince anyone I'm right. But I have no regrets with the 2x12.

KO

P.S. I found an Ampeg PortaBass 1x10 cab for $100, so those situations where I might have only used a single 1x12 are covered with the PB-110H.
