I am so upset :crying: I went to grab old trustworthy this morning and it had lights, but nothing more. Less than 5 years old!! :mad: I shut it off and back on again, same darn thing, lights and nothing else. It was stone cold, not even a little bit warm? :confused: I unplugged it and plugged it back in, turned it on.....lights and that is all? :mad: What could have happened?? It worked beautiful yesterday, why not today??:scowl: I can't believe it let me down and I might be late to work toying with it :eyebrow: LESS THAT 5 YEARS OLD?!?! :spit:

Mods please forgive the rant? :hmm:
















Just for those who post: "It worked great yesterday?"

If it plugs in it can fail, most times when it is least convenient :spit: Be it a bass amp or coffee maker. :D

Had to stop for coffee on the way to work, threw my whole day off. :p

And this is why I have a back up coffee maker and a french press. :smug:

No excuse for not having coffee.

I have yet to find a coffeemaker that has a pot you can simply grab and pour a cup without it dribbling everywhere. These things have clocks, alarm clocks, timers....they can even start themselves while you're still asleep and have fresh coffee waiting for you when you wake up.....yet it seems all these damned engineers who design all this extra crap, don't actually take the time to pour themselves a cup of coffee from it before putting it to market. If they did, they'd discover a good portion of it would end up on their pants, and they'd go re-design the damned thing.:p

Bah ha ha ha ha ha...now that's dog gone funny!

Embarrassing as it is...I'll tell ya though, it took me a while to learn to like it. But at 5am and I slept in too long...there's no time for my Bialetti or my Bodum Santos "Science Project" dual glass bulb jobby. I love very good coffee, but at 5am I just like waking up.

Mines been going about that long too. Only problem I've had with her was a power switch went bad but that was an easy fix....you just plug it in to turn it on now.:p

Working off and on in a repair shop for 15 years, I've known and met a whole buncha techs of all stripes. They do then to be weird and frequently to have poor social skills. I like to say it's because they didn't develop social skills because as wee ones they stayed inside taking apart and putting back together their toys. The boss says it's the lead in the solder fumes that turns 'em wacky. It's the more normal ones who (tend to) work in factories and the lone wolves who tend to free lance or run their own small shops.

I hand pour my own coffee into a paper filter cone set over a carafe. All but the most expensive machines don't heat the water to the right temperature for making good coffee. I've been using the same set-up for for about 20 years. Same filter holder and same carafe. I've had the same grinder since we bought the house 17 years ago. I'd like to get a french press but then I'd need a semi-expensive good grinder and I'm too curmudgeonly stuck on my dirt cheap setup.

I once had what I used to call the perpetual coffee maker. I bought the thing for $10 when I lived in Wisconsin. Moved to Colorado and it broke so I took to a discount store which sold the same unit. They replaced it but in less than a year it broke too. The same store replaced that one with a new one as well and this went on almost annually for about five or six years. I suppose I could have bought a better one but I was real curious to see just how far that initial $10 would carry me.

They no longer do this with electronics products and I guess I know why, LOL.

Hand pour can be as good or better than french press...there's a place here that will only do hand pour. I prefer french press because you get a strong cup, but it's not bitter, but smooth and intense. I won't do 'dark' roasts, only nice light ones.
