As for "good but not for me": A few companies that may make decent pedals, but where the proprietor is a pushy egotistical jerk or has questionable business practices etc.

OTOH, there's a "bad but I like it" pedal, the Boss ODB-3. The digital version on my Zoom gives a lovely grind/growl with GAIN low.

Works for my ears. I was going to get a Zcat, but then my Secret Santa in 2016 was super-sleuthy and got me a SuperEgo — badaboom badabing! (Thanks again Aeth, if you happen to read this.)

I'll get a Zcat Hold if ever I get enough feline-oriented pedals to make an entire board of them, but doing so is like herding cats... though I've got a handful of them already: WH Echo Puss, Dwarfcraft BDSM (graphic is Kittens), DVK Hairball, Dano Cool Cat Chorus... need to get a few more to start a proper board.

Bees & Fizz is a good name for a band.

Broughton PLL- it was just too “out there” for me to find a use for it.

Red Panda Bitmap- great sounding bit crusher, but I realized I have no use for bit crushers

Call me crazy, but my Aguilar Tone Hammer would be at the top of the list for me. Everyone loves this pedal and I don’t think it sounds bad at all... it just never gives me the sound that I want with my particular set up.

Keeley Caverns V2. I wanted ambience in a box, and while the modulated reverb was pretty good, no matter how I set it the shimmer was all too dominating and the delay trails were too quiet.
I've sold it to my guitarist, who seems quite happy with it, and I'm going to get a TC Flashback mini and EQD Afterneath in stead.

I research things pretty carefully and I’m not driven by current fads when it comes to music gear. But the only way to really know how well something is going to work for you in actual practice is to get one, plug it into your own rig, and have at it for several weeks. Which in my case means I keep maybe a third of what I buy. So with ne it’s probably better if I give three categories instead of three pedals so I don’t unfairly single out the many otherwise cool pedals that just didn’t do it for me.

1. Everything by Darkglass. Their stuff sounds incredible when played by many fine bassists I’ve listened to. Much less so with me. Guess they’re just not my sound.

2. Envelope filters. Like the concept behind the effect. I’m a closet funkmeister. But I could never get them to work for me.

3. Bass Synth pedals. Never once tried one I’d consider putting on a board. Never once heard one do anything a small keyboard synth couldn’t do ten times better.

Felt the same about Darkglass…had a Vintage Microtubes for a few days but I couldn't get it sound like some of the YouTube demos so I returned it.
Haven't tried any synth pedals but may try a SA C4, even though it doesn't fit the sound of the roots band that I play in. Maybe I use it, just to freak out the BL, during a gig!

Sorry, I am kind of sensitive on the issue of reporting things.

I was musing one day about whether I should sell something to get something else here on TB.
I was just looking for advice.
And someone DID report me saying I was trolling for a sale. Even though at the beginning of my thread
I said in all caps and bold type that I was not selling anything.

Envelope filters: over the years I probably had 5-6 of them, and sold every one... they are fun at home, but they don't work for me in a band situations.
Fuzzes: similar story.

- ehx bass big muff. By far the worst fuzz ive ever tried.
- zoom ms60b....more of a toy to noodle in the basement.

The Source audio C4. Doesn't have unity gain, so I would have to change the volume of each preset. Switching between sounds takes about a second, so it is unusable life, and I just can't stand that i have to adjust the parameters with my phone and not on physical buttons. Has some great sounds, but the drawbacks are just too much for me.
