All 3 hanging on the wall. I grab one or an other a couple times a day. The natural wood (oldest one, as in my avatar) has yellowed over the past 20 or so years, but I don't care. One, it is a tool, not the Mona Lisa, and two, I don't look as good as I did 20 years ago either! LOL! I'm more prone to grab one and play for a while if I don't have to de-case and re-case it/them many hundreds of times a year. Plus I like looking at them!

I only have three basses, and a couple of dogs. So my basses stay in their cases. It keeps them more dust free also. Plus my wife doesn't see if I sold off one, and replaced it with another one.

Wall hung for ease of access. I have cases for my instruments, but I don't store them in the cases as getting them out to play with the limited time I have available would cut into my playing time...

I just pull an instrument off the wall, plug in, tune up and play...

I mentioned it on another thread, but those are 2 of a total of 4 basses I want. I am GASsing for a Squier Jazz bass, and a Squier Jaguar Bass V Special. I also have presently 4 accoustic guitars that call my place home, and we want to add 2 electrics, one strat, one Les Paul.

I REALLY need to finish up the mounts in this room so I can patch any holes made by experimenting with instrument hanging, and then repaint...

Wall hanging is pretty crucial to my music room design / function as it is a small space, 10' x 10', and shared with both Home Office and music room equipment... Music room itself has keys, bass, and guitar, associated amps etc... Home office has a 48" LAN rack, an L shaped desk with hutch, and a 4 drawer vertical filing cabinet. Not to mention the networking wall mount rack that is slated to be immediately above the filing cabinet, and between the desk and LAN rack... I MUST be efficient with the use of what little space I have.

It's common knowledge that if you hang your bass for long enough the neck will stretch.

That's how uprights are made.

That makes sense, but how do you explain that big fat body? They must sneak off to the refrigerator at night when nobody's looking, too.

The biggest reason I can see for keeping a bass in its case is the accumulation of dust. Just leave your bass out for 6 months and compare it to another that has been stored in the case. Sometimes I will prop my road worn 73 P against a chair so it is readily available, but there's not much more that can happen to it.

They're usually either on a multi stand or in cases. Eventually I plan to install some wall hangers and make them part of the home's usual decor. Plus, those wall hangers will enable quicker and more convenient access to them.

The Hercules stands are super. Those would be my choice if I were to leave mine out of their cases too. I use the Hercules stands when in the cases.

When I'm not playing, my bass is in a hardshell, unless it's on it's own stand in a safe place (indoors, with enough distance from the crowd). A previous bass fell off one of our guitar boats once, in bad weather, sending the dual-trussrod neck outta whack permanently, smashed the B-string into the nut, and took a big chunk out of the headstock. I don't care if we have set breaks (rare for us now), it goes in the case.

If my Peavey US Tiger Eye got messed up, I'd be without words.

My bass and my two guitars are just propped up against my chest of draws next to my wall, I'd get stands or wall mounts for them all if I had enough space (I've got like, 3 square metres or so of actual wall; my other three walls are two huge glass panes and a row of wardrobes. My fault for having a conservatory bedroom!)

Some rotate in and out of two cases depending on the flavor of the week, and the rest are stored on hangers or stands.

Hard cases, during rehearsal I'll use a stand when we take a break, but in general, if it's not being played, it's in the hard case.
