That drummer is not that bad, IMO, hey- at least he doesnt speed up and get obnoxiously loud.

But his girlfriend "vocalist".... o dear. Houston, we have a problem.....

I agree, the drummer is not bad, and he works hard on his short comings. If I put in as much practice time as he does, I would be able to take my playing to the next level.

1- You're pretty good on bass.

2- The vocalist isn't very good at anything.

3- Pay to play is not acceptable.

4- Your band name is cheesy as hell.

I'd find a new band that you're not embarrassed to play with. Good luck!

i checked out the video ... and wow, i think there was one song the drummer was really all over the place, and you and the guitar player ended up playing different chords for the whole intro while you kept looking at the drummer.

hmmm... i can relate, i also have singer and drummer problems.

The music does have a great groove to it, and you’re doing a great job.

She’s easy on the eyes, but… maybe someone should be helping out with some backups or something. Has the drummer every said anything about her vocals? Maybe you’ll all get lucky and they’ll break up.

A good singer would make a big difference; the band isn't going too far with her there.

4) Drummer books us for a battle of the bands. Winner is chosen by crown response . The rest of the band are really excited about this "opportunity." I don't have the heart to tell them what this really is. At least it's not pay-to-play.

+1 all around here. She is defiantly not anything to write home about, but when she gets "dressed up" she looks downright scary.

In my experience with bands ... there are no victims, only volunteers.

I've never heard this applied to bands before. I wish someone had said this to me two years ago. :/

Well, the sound is not THAT bad overall. Personally, I think you and the guitarist are pretty good. I like your funky playing (and love your bass!). The drummer is ok.

Maybe the intro of the song (I was listening to "Fine- Distorted Contentment") was kinda chaotic, but the rest of the song is pretty funky and catchy.

The singer isn't horrible, IMHO, but a bit on a flat side. Her voice certainly didn't turn me on or anything.

Honestly, I could not handle being in that band for more than one song. The singer's style just really grates on my nerves. On the positive side rest of the band sounds pretty good. My suggestion is to fire the singer and change rehearsal locations.

Time for an update.

We had our final practice last night before our first real gig tonight. I had been thinking all week about if I really wanted to spend my free time with this band. A couple of comments were made (not directed at me) that annoyed me enough to push me over to the 'not worth it' side of things. So I told them that Jan. 12th would be my last gig with them. I told them I would help find a replacement and help that replacement learn the material if need be. They took it really well, and started the search for a new bass player about 10 min after I left (Craigslist). All in all, this was a good learning (if not paying) experience and I will definatly spend a bit more time looking for my next opprotunity.

Thanks for all your comments, they really helped affirm what I already knew and helped me get it together to get out of there.
