Drummer is a bit sketchy, but better than mine - at least he tries to put some feel in.

Good luck, probably best you moved on. I'd have trouble locking in with a drummer with such a weak kick- he needs practice putting more energy in to simple beats and less on playing around the kit, IMO.

The name is plain frightening. But it's probably better you didn't stick around and insist on a name change- you'd probably end up with 'One Hand Clapping' or 'Falling Trees'.

It's hard for me to comment on some of these threads because the OP more often then not leaves out an important detail, their age.

My response to a band issue for a 17 year old would be completely different than a response to a 27 year or a 40 year old.

to the OP:

You make my band situation seem like nothing when compared to yours. I guess we have a kinda lame informal band slogan too ...our name is Maria Sweet ...so if something is cool its also sweet, but no its "Maria Sweet" haha, maybe a few notches towards "not so lame" but it does get old gig after gig hearing that. That singer definitely needs practice time.

I think I'm grateful my current drummer is darn good with beats and both singers are able to carry a pitch well. Best of luck with whatever your choice is

Quick update. The gig last week was actually okay. We had fun, but since they will not commit to learning any more songs, we only had about an hours’ worth of material to play which we split into two sets with a 20 min break in-between. The bright side is that instead of a % of bar sales (would have been next to nothing) we got $200.

Last night we made a quick trip to a local studio. I know the drummer has timing problems, so I just suggested that we play our stuff live w/out click track. Then we can go back and touch up trouble spots if any are too bad. The drummer demands that we play with a click track (live tracking). Train wreck. We probably wasted over an hour playing songs multiple times to get them reasonably on time. I was not happy with my bass parts since I had to babysit the drummer with quarter notes to keep him on time. He had such a hard time with the cover we were trying to lay down that I finally just had him give me his iPod and I laid down the bass track playing along with the original. They are going back on Saturday (I have a wedding out of town), and I don't think they are going to be happy with the results.
