The process for finding her replacement is quantity over quality. Tap everything that will let you, and venture beyond your normal requirements for a chick. Somewhere in this process you'll find repeat customers. Those turn into relationships.
Problem is most guys go out looking for the 'right girl' (quality) and pass up many opportunities that won't always be there. This is because they're listening to the advice their mommy/big sis gave them, and they start playing the game derived from the woman's fairytale. Men lose in that game. At his age, most of the chicks around him are as hot as they're going to be, so his quantity also has a certain air of quality. He needs to take advantage of that before certain phenomenon like the freshman fifteen, party-girl gunt, or baby pooch starts affecting his local talent pool.
Or the tl;dr version:
toughen up. Quantity over quality. Go.

Alright...not the best advice in the world.
But what the say is true
You don't really wanna be with her if it's over something stupid like wanting to be single for school.
On the flip side. Don't become a heartless beast. Scope around and have fun but don't just eff everything that comes your way, and DO NOT use girls you think are less attractive. That's not fair. And it's mean, you're doing to them, what she did to you

Reminds me of the 'eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind' proverb.
All I know is that I know many more guys who've played it straight and have been cheated on than the other way around.

But to just further my thoughts a little bit, and please feel free to disagree, I find that guys cheat to fulfill some sort of emotional need, such as wanting to feel desired (a point the OP stressed). Girls, on the other hand, seem to cheat out of spite, revenge, or as a way to gain control of a situation.
Nothing. Honestly, it's perhaps the best approach to school. Being single allows you to do so many more things that you typically (not always) can't do when you're tied down to another person. That's not to say you can't date, but you shouldn't be looking to get serious either. I've lost maaaaaaaany opportunities because of being in fruitless, long distance relationships.

You have much to learn grasshoppa.
Men typically cheat, and often cheat down, because the opportunity presents itself. Women usually cheat up and because they want to. Men throw themselves at women so much that the concept is OLD to them. I may be paraphrasing Chris Rock, but it tends to be true. Doesn't mean it's right.

I like his advice. Taiwanese Chinese are very nice, but I'll differ to say that I enjoy Hong Kong Chinese girls as well.
