I haven't seen this particular perversion before, but the ability of owners to commit butchery on any bass cannot be overestimated.
Another innocent SG sent to chainsaw mod hell. Might as well relic it with a belt sander while you're at it.

I don’t get that at all.
I think it’s wiser to just judge them by how well they met your expectations and your ultimate experiences with them. And in your case, your Gibson failed you miserably. So be it. You ended up not liking it. No big deal. I don’t quite follow how you went from there to blowing up and firing off class war accusations over someone saying somebody who modified an SG as much as the one in the first post probably shouldn’t own a Gibson.
Hmmm....I would have thought the short scale would be less invasive on your arthritis.
I do like what you did with yours BTW, and I'm sure the tone is awesome.
I also agree about using an Epi or Squier, in fact, that's exactly what I did....057912

It's funny how joint issues can affect playability. It's the short width that gets me, hunching me like qusimoto, and the lethal neck dive. The short neck is quite nice and I'll miss that.
I traded an OLP Ray clone 5-string for it, both sounded nice. Couldn't play a 5-string and can't play this one for very long either. Wiring was like, glued or something, weird. Reasonably good job though cutting the PG must be tough. Whoever did the modding, it works well, and I doubt it the affects the value much one way or another.
It does take longer on CL to move an 'Epiphone' labeled headstock compared to one with a 'Fender' logo, I've noticed.

Say it, brother. I find it more than tedious reading all these posts about how modding will reduce the resale value. If you're so concerned about resale before you buy, then why did you buy the thing to begin with if you're not figuring on keeping it?
No, I've never seen one like that either, and with any luck at all, I won't see any more.
It would be interesting to see how one of these would sound in an EB0/EB3. I've never tried one myself. Fender humbucker from an early 70s Telecaster Bass.
Dont know about a specific pick up but I really liked the sound of a humbucker in the middle on this bass,I played one briefly and saw one in a video.

No.
Completely new pickup at the time designed by Seth Lover, along with its guitar counterparts that were seen in Telecaster Deluxe/Custom/Thinline and Starcaster 6-string models in the '70s.
It was Fender's answer to Sidewinder/Mudbucker, and a pretty convincing one at that, IMO.
