J in series with separate volume knobs. Schematic.

I think it is possible to run J pickups in series and have separate volume knobs. Here's a schematic.

What do you think?

It should work but the tone will vary quite a bit depending on the settings of the volume knobs. That tone control looks a bit odd though.

edit: more precisely, the tone will probably vary more than the volume.

I don't see much differences in your schematic, the pots will act in similar way in both designs (yours and mine). The way i wired the tone is just an example (actually i don't see the reason why it would act in a different way if wired as you say). Any way thanks for comments!

yours merely provide a variable load to the pickups, which will mainly affect tone (but volume will change as well), in my schematic the volume pots are wired as voltage dividers as they should be.

At the time I was thinking the hot leads of the pickups are connected to the top of the volume pots and not the wiper in a jazz bass, so switching would have been very easy. Since they are wired to the wipers though, this would require a few more poles...
