Jaco Tribute Bass Build

Well, I said good bye to my Jaco for the neck pocket adjustment. It was great to play her. Kevin uses "various" mixtures of epoxy. They wouldn't really disclose which type. They also sand the board to level it before epoxy is laid. It was crazy there on Friday. A guy came in weilding two Fodera's. Such a nice bass. I did get my explosive Ibanez back. Yay!

I got my bass back from Kaufman. After taking a second look, the gap is rather small. I can only fit one business card in the space, and I see it as more of a problem to fix something that will have little affect on sound. Plus the side walls are nice and tight, which will not allow any shifting. I will post more pics of the gap. I'm a bit nuerotic and sometimes I sweat the small things. I played her last night, and I absolutely love this axe. I love seeing my 7 space guitar rack full of top notch players.
Thanks to all of those who followed this thread. Your input was highly valuable.

I will be sending her to Dan Atkinson in the Winter for further relic love and sound samples.

Stay tuned as I will be posting pics of my BOD at the Jaco Pastorius Park in Oakland Park.

Fantastic!
And such patience, you are to be commended, BG, but of course what else could one do!

I'm not usually one for relics, but that's quite a work of art.
A cool, inspiring project, thanks for letting us come along for the ride.

It's done for the most part. Dan is going to tweak some of his relicing, and post audio clips. I will send it to him in December.

I'm really happy how it turned out. I learned a lot about building and relicing an instrument. It plays nice, and is a head-turner.

The project is done for now. The bass is assembled, plays nice and sounds great. The Dan Atkinso tweak will happen in December. He had such a huge part in it, so I figure he should get a test drive.

ghostjs, you in a band? Let me know, and I'll let you play a set with her.

I love sittng on my couch watching TV, playing her. Plugged into my SWR Workingman's 10, with the bridge solo'd is burpy Jaco goodness.

She doesn't record as well as my Sterling, but she sounds awesome, live.
