Jacos bass - where?

1shot1hit I've read everything with interest specially your last long post. It makes complete sense to me. You know, there just is this thin "veil" over the entire story because everybody would like to see the happy ending of Felix playing his dad's bass and this will eventually come with time, I hope, we hope!!!
P.S.: please... ehm... explain to me what "sugar britches" means, if you wish (no hard feelings: I swear!!!) You know, It's not my mother tongue, so many jargons or out of standard dictionary words come new to me (I might use this eventually!!!)

That maple top is so ugly! It is such a shame that the Bass Of Doom has been relegated to a shell of itself -- literally -- and is now regularly fondled by that oaf from Metalica!
Though I can't stand Metallica, RT is a beast of a player. His stuff w/ Infectious Grooves and Suicidal Tendencies sometimes blows my mind. He's also a rather well versed Flamenco guitarist (I believe his father was a pro). I'd argue RT is every bit the player Les Claypool is, and the real reason Claypool wasn't invited was his sheer goofiness (not a bad thing). RT looks "metal", and had "metal" credentials after playing with Ozzy.
Would you turn down the million dollar check offered to join an outfit such as Metallica, and the paychecks afterward...? I wouldn't.

you know: years ago we were used to organize jazz concerts here in my little town, lost in central Italy. On one particular occasion, here came a quintet of players (standard jazz cats, 50 and more years old, tummies and classical... "no look" apparel for jazz music etc.) and the bass player was a young guy with long hair that was evidently not in his natural place.
They said their regular bassplayer could not make it so they got this rock guy at last minute; this guy was used to play huge arenas with I don't frankly remember which major US rock band.
Well, we were frankly worried for the concert but I said to myself: let's see what happens.... so, this guy was so perfectly on time, playing so tastefully and with just the right tecnique on the upright (he usually plays electric) that seeing him at work was just nothing less than a pleasure for the ears.
Never judge somebody/something from one out of the 100 sides he might have hidden into the jacket...

It's just something I've always said to piss my brother off when arguing.
It always got him all worked up when I said it at the start of every other sentence.
I was being a smart a** but not necessarily to be mean.

It's unfortunate his true abilities don't shine through where he's at. Nothing wrong with it, Metallica is nothing anyone should be snubbing their nose at by any means.
It just doesn't seem to really allow RT to showcase his full spectrum of playing.

Claypool auditioned after Cliff Burton died, not after Jason Newsted quit(or was let go). Metallica's reasoning was that Les was "too good" for Metallica.
That said, IMO Claypool is too much of an independent artist to be in a band scene that demands the loyalty Metallica does. I also believe RT loves being in the band
That guy who paid $90 for the bass in the first place. What a jerk. Totally ripped off whoever he bought it from. I mean, obviously he knew that the '62 had some magic in it. I'm never going to listen to anything he recorded again!!!
I was comparing the two, not the time frames of their auditions; meaning both are ridiculously talented players. In that comparison, you should be reading that RT is "too good" for them as well.

Is there a way to find out who it was? It's always interesting to hear someone who is widely known for one style playing in a different style, better than anyone expects.
Why would Metallica choose such a talented, funky bassist when they are notorious for burying (or not even recording) their bassists. It seems to be a "bassist" in Metallica is to hold up an image and not step on too many toes. I could be wrong and Im certainly off topic, lol.

Yeah Trujillo is a *killer* bassist. Lots of skills there, lots of heart. Very cool story Avezzano!
Do yourself a favor and check out Infectious Grooves with RT, good stuff musically and very entertaining beyond the musical dimension as well.
