Jad Freer tube preamp pedal for 2026?

I hope @scubaduba will have the opportunity to review it too, IMO he's the reference regarding tube preamps/di (and it's been quiet there lately)

I would like to get my hands one. I’ve been through so many tube devices hands on. I do like me some tube tone. :D I had written Jad Freer a couple of times in the past about things and I don’t believe I ever received a reply. Good to see @Andrea Lo here to answer questions.

You sound very confident talking about gear you don't know but thats the internet.
I’m confident in my personal preferences. Lol

I love my Capo and use it constantly. Also loved the Sisma I tried. I’m a fan of JF. Please don’t give me a reason not to be.

Let me explain, respectfully: you may have tried different 9V tube pedals and not liked them.
You drew the conclusion that you don't like 9V tube pedals in general, but it's just an extrapolation - the tone of a pedal depends on many factors, not just its power draw.
Maybe this one will be different? We'll see.

I'm pretty confident this product is another good reason to be a fan regardless how you think tubes and power supply should work. It would be fair to give it a try or at least check the specs before giving such a strong comment.

It may be.

I stated a personal choice based on a generalization made from experience. Isn’t that what we do here?

It was in no way meant to be an attack on JF or their product.

Input voltage doesn’t mean anything in today’s pedals. The singular audio tubedrve is a 9v pedal but internally is running 230v.

I had a similar opinion and am starting to change it based on the quality of pedals I've checked out in the last couple of years. Like others have mention, the draw is a good indication that something better could be going on here.

All that to say I did compare it against my Noble (and other extremely high end DIs) and will have a video versions with sound samples free of my opinion. I think you'll enjoy that regardless of where your tone preference ends up. 😊
