Jaguar Question

You got me wondering, so I began visiting websites. Zzzzsounds says discontinued, and they can't get any. Just about everybody else, GC, Musicians Friend, etal. seem to be able to provide them in either Hot Rod Red or Sunburst in limitless amounts. They also state they were "new in 2006."
These retailers had all the colors when the closeout started but not in limitless amounts. Sam Ash only has the red ones left and that's it for them. The Bain proprietaries (MF, GC.Com, etc only have the reds and a few sunbursts left. They all had all four colors a few weeks ago, but they're gone, gone, gone...

I just had MF call up their computer data on this model and double checked. They say that it is a discontinued model and there will be no more of any color once current stocks are gone.

The clincher of all this is, you've proven they're discontinued but Fender shows them as a current model.
No, I've explained that. They keep discontinued models in their catalogs and price sheets for at least a year after they cease production or importation, sometimes longer, to support existing stocks in retailer's stores. It's a sensible policy.

So then whats the last year these were manufactured, and how would you tell by the s/n? Mine's Crafted in Japan, S/N is S9xxxxx... S plus 6 digits, not five. I'm guessing these are also early models, maybe they just made enough to add the 6th digit? I guess it doesn't matter though in the end, because it's a great bass, and considering the low price these have been going for, it's probably not going to be worth selling. Got mine for less than $400, and it's no doubt the most bang for the buck I've gotten out of a bass. I'm just curious...

I suggest someone ask...

In about...oh...FIVE YEARS, it looks like. :rollno:

They may not give you the correct information, but they might and it will be fun to see what they say.

Please post your results here.

I like mine orders of magnitude more than I thought I would, but I still am annoyed by that cockeyed battery arrangement that causes so much grief.

There's been at least one other thread about this earlier. "Made In Japan" vs. "Crafted In Japan" - they're both actually made in Japan, but one is a later production than the other. Hard to say if there is any difference in the quality, not sure if they switched factories or just decals, etc. Jaguars weren't made in the '90s, so Fender needs to update their serial number list...

UPS just left me a nice package...
This little jewel sounds amazing!!! I must say, I have found myself staring at it more than I'm playing it right now.

They were discontinued after Winter NAMM last year, I believe. They're still on the site, but there's no stock.

You're right, I forgot when I said that that I had seen only the burst and the HRR and white were no longer listed.

As you said, out of stock and I have the 2010 catalog and price list and none are listed there.

Get one if you want it. They are going quickly.
