James Jamerson's style and unique technique

i dont think jamerson is an example of a great or unique technique. He had great groove, musicality and taste. His greatness dont have anything about any physic skill that you could develop by repeating practice routines..

My idea of uniqueness is when you hear a song and listen to the bass, you know who it is by their technique. He definitely falls under that category, while hundreds of other bass players do not.

OK, your question is better understood now. Yes, you can pick a Jamerson bass line out of the crowd pretty easily and while some are simple and somewhat repetitive they're not always easy to play consistently througout a whole song without some practice.

To me Leland Sklar is another bassist whose style can be easily picked out of a crowd. Another very tasteful player in a different genre.
